My, my - it appears that Tweety has "jumped the shark"
When the show started out, Matthews made the focus of the show current events and the people involved in them. The show jumped the shark right after he named the show after a book he had written about politics, HARDBALL. This was when he began to insert his views more often in interviews and updates. The annoying shouting, rocking back and forth, interupting, and loaded questions increased and made the show tough to bear.

The show jumped the shark when the producers allowed him to shamelessly promote his pompous book at the end of every show. I'm really embarrassed for the guy because he doesn't "get it". He totally loses credibility with me. Could you see Charlie Rose doing that....I don't think so.

This show jumped during the 2000 election, when Chris had Rush Limbaugh on and treated him like he was an unbiased journalist instead of a shill for the Bush campaign. Whenever he has someone like James Carville on, he challenges everything he says (as well he should), but with Rush, he actually let him speak without interrupting, and didn't challenge any of his obvious falsehoods. At least Bill O'Reilly actually believes what he says, I think Chris Matthews suppresses his own beliefs and objectivity because he knows the audience for cable news shows is generally more conservative. In other words, he's a whore.

Why does he have to scream all the damn time?

When Chris Matthews decided to cut off guests to inject his views. It's not that he screams, he's just obnoxious, and, contrary to what some believe, he hits left and right alike. I'll admit, it sometimes makes him appear hypocritical. But it's hard to be sure from all his hyperbole.

I used to like this self-absorbed loud mouth when he was just a columnist.BUT HE NEVER LISTENS TO HIS GUESTS!Just watch him, every time he asks a question he's asking another one before the person has three words out of their mouth.I'm sure if quizzed about this he would say he's just got too much to cover in an hour but the true answer is should be that the show isnt about politics, goverment, the issues or whatever his guests have to say,it's about ...ME..al franke..chris matthews! But this all pales compared to my new beef with this show.ever since 9-11 every night he finishes his intro with"this is A SPECIAL EDITION of hardball". EVERY NIGHT!!!

1. He really, really REALLY jumped the shark in October...
...I've heard a lot of foolish crap come out of this guy, but NOTHING tops the "sunny nobility" quip. NOTHING. That officially became his "point of no return."

7. You can follow the link on the photo for the whole transcript...
...but it was at a peak moment in the CIA leak case, as well as the aftermath of his Katrina apathy. Instead of being concerned with the behavior that caused him to plummet in the polls, Matthews instead wrung his sweaty hands over Bush "regaining his mojo."

3. I think I'd like to see a shark jump Tweety
Any chance of a few great whites heading to Nantucket and biding their time for a chance to chomp on this side of overpriced beef?

4. 9-11 SAVED his puny little "show"
Edited on Fri Jan-20-06 02:08 PM by SoCalDem
It was on the verge of cancellation.. Think about it.. Who was really watching that closely back then. We had the expose` of the vote count coming out, but deep down we all knew nothing would come of it.. Juniors rating were tanking..we were all telling everyone "see we TOLD you he was a creep"..and then the WTC event turned it all upside-down and Chris could call in that order for the new beemer..
