August 18, 2006 - How Many and Where Were the Nukes?
'Washington, D.C., August 18, 2006 - The Pentagon and the Energy Department have now stamped as national security secrets the long-public numbers of U.S. nuclear missiles during the Cold War, including data from the public reports of the Secretaries of Defense in 1967 and 1971, according to government documents posted today on the Web by the National Security Archive (www.nsarchive.org).'

1. Any Speculation As To Why?
What good could it possibly do? The information is published all over the place.

2. pablum for the newly teeth-less is my guess...
apathy will close the breach elsewhere...my question would be why now? wouldn't that have been one of the first things they did?

as bush initiates his tactical nuke policy, obfuscating the info regarding the whereabouts of nukes seems to that ill-success maybe

4. Why now indeed....
Given the current B*shCabal™ misAdministration's rabid
concealment of EVERYTHING (including many thousands of files
that had previously been declassified for years or even decades),
I assume that any RELEASE of info, any info at all,
is being done to suit an agenda.

If the usual suspects like the Washington Post and Fox News
start giving time to this, then we'll KNOW it's serving some
propaganda purpose.

Just a notion: maybe the murderous asshats are going to
push their "let's build some more MODERN nukes" idea again,
and this could be prelude to a "We had 18 thousand for decades, so
what's a few more?" talking point campaign.
