Bush Must Negotiate to Make America Safer, Say Former Generals...
'SAN FRANCISCO - Twenty-one former generals and high ranking national security officials have called on United States President George W. Bush to reverse course and embrace a new area of negotiation with Iran, Iraq, and North Korea. In a letter released Thursday, the group told reporters Bush's 'hard line' policies have undermined national security and made America less safe.

Of particular concern for the generals was increased saber rattling between Washington and Tehran over the development of an Iranian nuclear program.

...Ronald Reagan was willing to negotiate with the Soviets even though they were the 'Evil Empire'...one wonders why George Bush can't negotiate with the 'Axis of Evil.'

"We call on the administration to engage immediately in direct talks with the government of Iran without preconditions to help resolve the current crisis in the Middle East and to settle differences over an Iranian nuclear program," their letter read.'

1. It's hard work to negotiate
You can't expect him to "do" the hard work of being president and the hard work of negotiating, too. I mean, it would be tough for him to get in his 150 days / year in vacation time and his 150 days / year at fundraisers if he had to do both.

2. People like Chimpy are not prepared to negotiate.
It is not in their skills list on the resume, because they do not have the skills to compromise. That is what go us in this mess in the first place. He'll ignore them as usual.

3. Substitute Cheney for Bush. We know that Geroge buys what ever
words his guides tell him and he adds his touches of soul looking, loyalty betrayal, revenge.

So the generals should refer to Cheney and we know why Cheney won't negotiate - PNAC and the barons want the riches of the ME and other resource rich countries combined with control over all people to the point of total obedience.

Getting Cheney to negotiate on behalf of us is an impossibility. He works for PNAC and the barons and they still have two years. They won't negotiate until they acquiese to the failure of their agenda. Words coming from Cheney indicate continuance.

Unlike in the UK, no one in authority is going to ask George and Dick to resign. Creating an all Republican Congress was in their plan for continuity.

Do the generals think Cheney & friends haven't made plans to stay in power?
Do the generals want to say something about vote stealing?
Do the generals want to say something about the possibility of no elections due to martial law and their role in enforcing it?
Do the generals want to say something about their complicit role in partnering with corporations?

My head tells me there are some good generals out there. I hope they have a voice.

Because Cheney & friends are on course in spite of bumps.

7. The use of military force is profitable for bush's base....
...of have mores.

It also justifies the creation of a police state to oppress the nation's people who suffer as a result of directing a disproportionate share of national revenue to war, national defense, and police functions, by a paranoid and uncompetitive ruling class.

12. Bush enjoys getting people to knuckle under
Suskind then adds that statement to Bush's personal tendency to land the first blow, warranted or not, just to show who's in charge. "A game changer," Bush called his approach, learned on the basketball court where he was known for his dirty play aimed at the other team's best player.

"A sudden blow for no reason is better than one for good reason" is how Suskind explains Bush's philosophy.

As brother Jeb says, "He truly enjoys getting people to knuckle under."
