Even my TV dinner is Political
So I throw a cheap pepper steak dinner in the micro for 3.5 minutes, take it out, open it up, and what do I see?

On the inside of the top part to peel off is an advertisement for a book by Jeno. He has a pic of himself and a quote from Poppy Bush: "We Bushes salute Jeno for being a true point of light!"

I can't eat this damn thing now. And I just bought 8 of them because they were on sale.

7. who's Jeno?
And why is he resorting to advertising on the inside of a TV dinner box? Was the 3 am slot on the PAX network too pricey?

8. Apparently
he's Michelina's son, and she's damn proud. She's the real entrepeneur, me thinks. The tv dinner is in her name, after all.

19. ah, Michelina
She's one ugly-ass tv dinner chef, but I relied on her "cooking" to get me through a summer or two back in the day.

2. T.V. dinners are horrible anyway. They take more work to produce
than to actually eat. And they are high in sodium and overly processed ingredients. Try making a salad or sandwhich for a quick meal.. much healthier and just as easy.

6. I live by microwave.
Haven't touched a stove in months. I had soggy fishsticks last night and I'll probably have soggy pre-packaged pizza tonight.

20. Yup, same here. Since I only cook for me,
it's easier to just zap a frozen entree in the microwave.

27. Get a George Foreman grill or something similar
Get yourself some burgers, chicken, etc, and just cook enough for yourself. You'll save money, it's almost as fast, and it's a hell of a lot healthier (tastier too).

Eat the steak, not the sales pitch.
Real cows package the line of shit right alongside the good eatin'. It's up to us to appreciate the difference and act accordingly.

NO repeat customers! Why offer food only to have it barffed up latter? I have NEVER heard of anything so absolutely stupid in my life.

59 Years - No Strikes

As an employer, he has operated 23 plants worldwide - in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, England, Germany, Spain and Italy. All plants were unionized, by the Teamsters, Steelworkers, Coal Miners, Foods Handlers, Retail Clerks, Meat Cutters, Stationary Engineers; the Confederazione Generale Italiana del Lavoro in Italy and other unions in Germany, Spain and England - with thousands of employees but without one hour of strike or slowdown over 59 years.

Jeno was honored as United States Employer of the Year in 1972 for his employment practices, especially for a total of over 1,000 handicapped and disadvantaged - all unionized, the same as other employees. His demonstrated personal trust affording convicts and addicts a second chance in life has restored many individuals to productive citizenship.

Jeno F. Paulucci: 'Shame on America'

SANFORD, Fla., Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The severe consequences of
Hurricane Katrina on the Gulf Coast have prompted entrepreneur Jeno F.
Paulucci to call out "Shame on America" in his forthcoming book: "Jeno, the
Power of the Peddler."
Paulucci, widely known as founder of more than 50 companies, was recently
named by Ernst & Young as the Number One Overall Entrepreneur in the world for
the past 20 years, not only for entrepreneurship but also for his civic and
philanthropic activities.
In the following excerpt from his book, Paulucci contends that in many
ways Hurricane Katrina has brought shame in our country. But, he states, it is
a broader and deeper shame than the politicians and pundits understand.

"Unfortunately, but not unexpectedly, the experts on all sides keep
telling us, over and over, that Katrina was a racial matter. Almost all the
refugees in the Superdome cesspool, as we could see on television, were black.
Throughout the Gulf states, the majority of victims were black -- 67 percent
black and 33 percent white, by one estimate. But that misses the point.
The shameful statistic is that the victims were almost 100 percent poor.

I never would have guessed just from reading the inside cover of the frozen dinner. I think I'll reheat the damn thing and eat it with pride now!

(if they would just get rid of that Poppy Bush reference...........)

16. Made me laugh, Mosey.
Have you checked the date on the package? Maybe it mentioned Poppy and was on sale because it expired in 1990 ;) :scared:

(Just kidding.)

For what it's worth - I like the Pasta with chicken, peas and carrots. When I open the corner prior to popping it into the microwave, I pour in some extra frozen peas.

21. Michelina
Most of what I found on the owner (Jeno) left me with the impression that he's one of the few good guys running huge corporations.

His political donations? meh. maybe not so much... Looks like he contributes to the person rather than the party since it's such a mixed bag.

campaign contributions -

25. Thanks for the info. I actually like that particular brand
so it's a relief to know that he's mostly a decent guy. As far as his political contributions, it looks like he's pretty much R, though he did donate to Nader, probably because he couldn't quite stomach donating to Bush, but still wanted to help him or hurt Kerry.
