I am sitting in a conference room in Houston at Camp Wellstone, and someone left information about Atticus Circle. What a great group! I am so glad to learn about them. Help them reach their goal of 50 new supporters in 50 states in 50 days!

About Atticus Circle

By joining Atticus Circle, you'll help us to achieve equality for all parents and partners, regardless of sexual orientation. To accomplish our goal, Atticus Circle will focus its efforts on education, policy development, and legal advocacy.

Education
Atticus Circle will provide information about the rights of parents and partners denied on the basis of sexual orientation. We seek to create cultural and attitudinal change by helping people understand the unique challenges and discrimination same gender couples and their families face, and by encouraging acceptance of all families and partnerships.


Policy Development
Atticus Circle will conduct research, publish materials, and work with businesses and policy institutions to develop ideas and policies that foster equal rights for same gender partners and their families.


Legal Advocacy
Atticus Circle will file amicus briefs on behalf of partners and parents whose rights are being denied because of sexual orientation.

I posted in a hurry on a break. I looked on their site for information to copy & paste, but the best explanation of the group in a concise paragraph is on the cards left on the table. Here is what it said:

Atticus Circle, named after Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird, works to achieve equal rights for all partners, parents, ad their children, by ending discrimination based on who someone loves. Atticus Circle is unique in its focus on building a coalition of striaght allies who support equality for same-gender families. Our goal is to add 50 supporters in 50 states in 50 days.
