Is Osama in Iran?
I haven't heard it yet but I wouldn't be surprised.

2. LOL, yes, better bomb the whole country... (No worries. Osama bin...
Laden will still be able collect his paycheck from the Bush regime, no matter what countries the US invades.)

4. I sort of doubt it
as the Muslims in Iran are Shia and Osama is a Sunni of the Wahabist sect. And if you think that sectarian differences in a faith don't matter, remember Northern Ireland.

6. in a grave in Iran per Micheal Ledeen

One Moment in Time
Our age of revolution.

There's an old Chinese theory according to which the best way to understand historical events is not to reconstruct the sequence of "causes" by which the events were "produced," but rather to look at the unique characteristics of the moment in which the events occurred. I know there's an old Chinese theory for most anything, but this one has stayed with me ever since I first read about it in an essay by Carl Gustav Jung, and back in the Eighties it occurred to me that Pope John Paul II had understood its wisdom. The pope once remarked that there were times when dramatic change was impossible, and at such moments anyone who tried to achieve it was like the fool beating his head against a stone wall. But there were other times when the acts of a single individual could change the world. He knew he was living at such a time, and he saw his mission as inspiring individuals to take those actions, and change the world for the better. That was one reason why his famous call, "be not afraid," was so right for those times, and why a handful of brave individuals famously changed the world.

This historical moment is not easy to understand, since we are in transition from a relatively stable world, dominated by a handful of major powers, to something we cannot yet define, since it is up to us to shape it. It seems clear, however, that there is a greater rapidity of change, accompanied — inevitably — by the passing of the leaders of the old order. This is particularly clear in the Middle East, where seven key figures have been struck down in the past six years: King Hussein of Jordan in February, 1999. King Hassan of Morocco in July of the same year. Syrian dictator Hafez al Assad in June of 2000. Yasser Arafat of the PLO in April, 2004. King Fahd of Saudi Arabia in May of last year. Ariel Sharon of Israel was incapacitated by a stroke in early January. And, according to Iranians I trust, Osama bin Laden finally departed this world in mid-December. The al Qaeda leader died of kidney failure and was buried in Iran, where he had spent most of his time since the destruction of al Qaeda in Afghanistan. The Iranians who reported this note that this year's message in conjunction with the Muslim Haj came from his number two, Ayman al-Zawahiri, for the first time.

8. bingo!!
The Iranians and the Saudi's don't get along very well for many reasons, religious reasons are just ONE of them. I suspect that if OBL was ever in Iran he'd be long gone by now as the visit would have been likely very short!!

20. Correct
Iranians are Persians, not Arabs. Check ancient history and you'll find that they've been rivals for millenia.

28. well I don't need to *check* history ....
Many years ago while in college I noted the interaction between Iranian foreign exchange students and foreign exchange students from Saudi Arabia. It was a very poor interaction at best. The "Persians" (correct) did not really care to interact with the Arabs was what I noticed, nor did they identify nor particularly care much for one another.

The differences between the two groups is and has been significant for a very long time and will remain that way IMO.

18. Right, like the Pope cozying up to Pat Robertson
I'm sure they have things in common (like Randall Terry and the Vatican came together over the Terri Schiavo matter), but they are basically rivals IF either of them wants supreme power in the Muslim world.

On the other hand, that's a very big if.

5. I believe he is in Saudi Arabia if he's alive.
He is an operative of the Saudi's secret service. Early in 1980 Osama bin Laden appears on the scene and begins providing support for the mujahedeen (Afghanistan's war with Soviet Russia) and is backed by the Saudi royal family. It is believed he is handpicked for the job by Prince Turki al Faisal, head of the Saudi’s secret service.

31. I do too
As close as the bin ladens and the booshes are I still believe that he went home to Saudia Arabia sometime in 02, to either die or get a kidney transplant. Blood is very thick in that region, and how would we know he isn't there?

16. yup--the same Ledeen who is linked with forged Niger docs.
http://rawstory.com/news/2005/American_who_consulted_fo...

American who advised Pentagon says he worked at magazine that found forged Niger documents
Larisa Alexandrovna

A controversial neoconservative who occasionally consulted for the Bush Defense Department has confirmed that he was a contributor to the Italian magazine Panorama, whose reporter first came across forged documents which purported that Iraq was seeking to obtain uranium from Niger.

The bogus documents became the basis for the infamous sixteen words in President Bush's 2003 State of the Union Address, in which he detailed his case for war. Their origin has been one of the most persistent mysteries in how American intelligence on Iraq was so wrong.

In an email to RAW STORY, occasional Bush foreign affairs advisor Michael Ledeen confirmed that he was, "several years ago," a regular contributor to Panorama. Leeden would not provide more specificity.

While most Americans have yet to hear of Ledeen or Panorama, the confirmation of his work with the publication adds yet another dimension to the Niger forgeries scandal and possible U.S. government involvement in pre-war intelligence manipulation.
