Crew rescues dolphin in a Speedo swimsuit
Edited on Sat Aug-19-06 12:10 PM by Opusnone
Sorry if dupe.

"A lucky adolescent male bottlenose dolphin is back to living nude and free in Gulf Coast Florida's Sarasota Bay after making a potentially fatal wardrobe choice early this summer.

The 10-year-old dolphin, known as Scrappy, probably owes its life to a Brookfield Zoo marine mammal research team that works year round in the bay."

2. so there's a large naked man running around somewhere?
EWWWWW!

I'm glad Scrappy is OK. I've always considered speedos dangerous, but usually just to my eyes. :P

The original owner might have drowned, y'know.
All that back hair gets pretty heavy when it's wet.
Not to mention how much big gold chains weigh!

(Seriously though, I'm happy to hear Scrappy is OK.)

3. At first I thought this was a case of really bad headline writing or a
joke.

Poor dolphin!

Speedos. An assult to the eyes and a threat to life.

15. Hey there are two words that will get me in 'dolphin' and 'speedo'.
With one I am looking for a great story, the other a great picture. You had both in one sentence! And I know you did not write the headline...but you did use it for a hook!

12. Ironic. Speedos are designed for competitive swimming.
... but not all mammals can wear them. Hell, even though I was a competitve swimmer in college, I sure wouldn't wear one myself, anymore. :silly:

18. What's a "man's bikini swimsuit"?
A bikini is 2 piece. So this dolphin was caught in both pieces? And what's the point of a 2 piece swimsuit for men? If it's the smoothness wanted for competitive swimming, don't men wear one piece bodysuits? Or are we talking about man-breasts here?

21. Bikini is an island, named in a language unrelated to ours
the "bi" has nothing to do with the duality of the garment. "Unikini" confuses the issue.

22. That doesn't really help me.
I know the derivation of 'bikini'. I have always seen it as referring to a woman's 2 piece costume.

23. I think it just refers to the cut of the bottoms
Men's speedo-style underwear is called "bikini briefs"

26. OK - maybe it's an American-British thing then
I think we just stick to calling them "briefs" or "trunks" here.

the dolphins .mom and son were trapped in low water in a inlet by his house.......hes 9yrs old..him and his baby sitter called the wildlife society .in the mean time they kept bringing buckets of water to keep them wet.......as the dolphins skin burns faster than a humans....

when the workers arrived the kids helped push them out in deeper water.....but.......it didn't work and the workers took them to the local recue center and found the mom had a infection and the son followed her in...

They are doing fine now.......and my grandson and his sitter........were honored with them being named after them
