Al Franken's book is a treasure
I don't really listen to his show since I don't live near a radio station which carries it, but his books are wonderful. His latest should be required reading. He utterly demolishes Bush's Social Security lie. Bush's 11 trillion dollar figure is projected out to infinity, assumes people live until age 150 and continue to retire at age 67. He also takes Rove, Reed, and Delay apart. Very much worth reading.

2. I laughed, I cried
Seriously. The strange thing was, it was the same passages that made me do both.

3. What Exactly is the name of Al Franken's book you are referencing?
What exactly is the name of Al Franken's book? Is it The Truth or some other title I've overlooked. I think he's fantastic and really should be the U.S. Senator from Minnesota, don't you?

4. reading it makes me so angry
I just finished the Social Security chapter last night. No wonder if failed miserably. He's still wiping the egg off his face with that one. This is the second Franken book I've read and he is so good. The research is incredible.

7. The difference between Al and most RW "writers"
is that Al meticulously fact checks and documents his sources. I've read "Big Fat Liar" and "Lies and the Lying Liars" now. Al puts together the small pieces to show the big picture of widespread corruption in the Bush administation.

8. Terrific read!
Don't miss DeLay's "Saipan Sex Tour and Jack Abramoff Casino Getaway".
Incredible. How these bastards are still walking the streets is amazing to me.
This book, and "Lies..." before this, are essential reads for anyone who still enjoys a lively exchange of truth vs. myths when in mixed company.

16. "Saipan Sex Tour and Jack Abramoff Casino Getaway"
I just finished that chapter.
:wow:
How can anyone do things like that? I just don't understand that kind of petty self-serving mentality.

9. I am reading it now. Taking it in small doses so I don't burst a
blood vessel thinking about how badly * and his minions have screwed us.

12. I felt the same way
There are drawbacks to being informed, the more informed you are the more pissed off you should be. And going through life pissed off isn't very fun, there needs to be a balance.

10. I'm partway through it.
I thought that his lies about Sean Hannity were hilarious. I was laughing out loud on the train while reading that chapter. As usual, Franken is very entertaining while getting serious points across at the same time.

11. I had the same problem with "Lies"
I read it during a LONG layover and found myself getting a lot of looks from fellow travelers (mostly businesspeople) when I'd bust out laughing.

17. The CD audio version is very good too, as a bonus it features original
sound clips from some of the things that only show up as quotes or transcripts in the book, plus he does an entertaining read of the book.

Highly recommended.
