Dan Rather says Bush just wants to hold Iraq together until he leaves... |
|
Edited on Sun Aug-20-06 11:51 AM by kentuck
office...and leave the clean-up to his successor. Think about how sick and petty that is. So long as Dubya is not there when the shit hits the fan, he can always find an excuse to blame the failure on someone else. That's a really admirable quality, isn't it? :sarcasm:

21. Right...he's done this all his life |
|
And gotten away with it. The Harkin Energy fiasco, the National Guard screwup, and on and on. He got into Yale because of daddy's legacy. The MSM didn't bother with this stuff during the 2000 campaign; they were too busy trashing Al Gore over petty (and untrue) shit.
He believes he's entitled to a) Screw up, b) blame someone else, and c) walk away from the mess.
November '08 can't come soon enough.

3. Bush is even more delusional than I thought.. |
|
... if he thinks he can escape his responsibility for Iraq. There ain't no freaking way - even those who basically support him know this was HIS doing, period, end of story.

But Iraq is melting down, they are sending mortar shells into the Green Zone, I don't think Iraq will last 6 more months with the current strategy.

13. Tet '68 happened on Johnson's watch. |
|
I remember well. I was there.
Tet (and the aftermath) is what convinced Johnson not to run again.

like Johnson and Tet
there!
What I was thinking about was Nixon and Cambodia. He wanted to roll the Vietnamese back just far enough so that the negative effects of his widening war wouldn't show up until after the election. Told his aides to say one thing and do another

ever made a mistake? Goddamn. It just gets harder and harder to have a conversation without folks jumping in to prove how smart they are, most of the time without a wit of a remark about the OP. Fuck this.

That Jimmy Carter's job was to clean up the mess left by Watergate and Bill Clinton's job was to clean up the huge debt and deficits of Reagan and Bush Sr. The next Democrat sure is going to have his hands full after this moron's mess...

outside of the actual disaster Iraq is, on all levels ...
It takes having been totally ramrodded out of his network job for a man of Rather's quality and experience to just flat out call things without putting punches ... He has nothing to lose now, so now he can just call it like it is ... The other 99% of the top media guys, knowing they have their jobs on the line offer things up in this weak, see both sides of the issue manner at best, or those who kwow they can actually advance their carreer use the Bushco agenda to do so ...
admirable quality ??? Yeah, to the freaks, "a man of conviction" ...
TOUGH being an american right now ...

24. I'll be glad when his HDNet program comes on in October. I'm hoping |
|
that without the profit margin of today's MSM, he can really expose this White House. I'd be talking about payback. There's just so much that needs to be exposed.

25. If MSNBC was smart, they would give him his own show... |
|
Surely he still has a lot of loyal viewers left over from CBS. They could steal that audience. Rather could replace Matthews as their flagship "journalist". It could help them improve their ratings.
