Using Nearly Nude Pictures, Child Sex Sites Test Laws
New York Times 8/20/06 KURT EICHENWALD

In the photograph, the model is shown rising out of a bubble bath, suds dripping from her body. Her tight panties and skimpy top are soaked and revealing. She gazes at the viewer, her face showing a wisp of a smile that seems to have been coaxed from off-camera.

In just over seven months, the model has become an online phenomenon. She has thousands of fans from around the world, membership lists show, who pay as much as $30 a month to see images of her. According to the posted schedule, new photographs of her — many clearly intended to be erotic, all supposedly taken that week — are posted online every Friday for her growing legions of admirers.

The model’s online name is Sparkle. She is — at most — 9 years old.

1. For once, we don't want to see any pictures.

Did the article have to be so alluring until the revelation of her age?! (that's low.)

Worse, some countries allow 9 year olds to be 'taken'. Maybe this is another form of America's predilection for catering to people in other countries?
Predilection ( Nittle Grasper / Gravitation )
This fanlisting is dedicated to the song Predilection from the anime Gravitation, sung by Kappei Yamagu

No doubt it'll be tested. They better pass their test and I'd rather they didn't. And if they do fail their test, lock the filth up for good.

2. WTF?
It used to be commonplace for parents to take photos of their kids in the bathtub, using the potty, or running around in the sprinkler naked - or nearly naked. Such photos were always considered innocent and harmless, and in most cases they were.

It's really sad that a certain element of society would seek to take advantage of children like this.

3. The article names some sites and I found one 'clearinghouse' easily,

It's shut down but the photos are clearly not innocent photos. Unless you call spread legged thong photos 'innocent'.

6. Don't go there
Stay away from those places, even for research. I'm not even joking. There are reputable organizations that investigate these places with permission of the FBI and the NCMEC. If you accidentally run across something like this, report it, but don't go there on purpose.

7. I know, I just clicked on an ad site, found by using the NYT's info.
They are welcome to look at my hard drive (yawn) & they'll see I posted this thread to DU.

But thank you -- I'm sure you're right. I'd hope they first track down the 6,000 US paying 'customers". They HAVE the data to do so.

4. I hate those f@cking sites
They are done with the parent's permission. Law enforcement does try to shut these places down. My hope is they begin to at least apply and enforce child labor laws on these scumbags. VISA and their US-based processors are making concerted efforts to block pay access to these retched places. Sadly, these are the very blurry lines that evil people are able to exploit on the Interwebs.

5. Watch for freaks photing your kids at public pools w/ zoom lenses.
We caught one here at the waterpark a few years ago. Parents took the mem card out of her camera but she got away before the police showed up.
