Congratulations "Highlights"! You made me what I am today!
A lot of people would say that's not such a big deal ;) , but I could have wound up another racist like my dad if that same dad hadn't bought me a subscription to "Highlights" (not to mention all the Scholastic books I could read). Little did he know, I'm sure! I'm guessing he had no idea where my propensity to argue with him came from!

Anyway, happy billionth copy, "Highlights"!

1. Oh yes. What a blessing that little folded children's 'newspaper' was.
And what a day brightener when the came. Same thing for Scholastic.

Some old school memories just make you happy and warm inside.

3. I've worked at Highlights for 8 years now
in the editorial offices. Great company. And since every Democrat in Wayne County, PA works at Highlights (and there's only about 30 of us) the "highlights" of our billionth issue celebration was the spot on the Colbet Report! Woot!

11. Congrats, and keep up the good work!
I had a Highlights subscription as a kid too, courtesy of the dad of one of my best friends. ("Jack and Jill" was the other magazine he always brought us.) Oddly enough, "Goofus and Gallant" is the only recurring Highlights feature I remember ... and I always thought Gallant was kind-of a dork.... :) None the less, it was lots of good reading in those days!

7. I loved Highlights as a kid
Edited on Sun Aug-20-06 06:36 PM by buddyhollysghost

and my kids got a few years' worth of subscriptions when they were younger.

They are excellent for teaching critical thinking skills, reading, social studies and writing.

Every kids should be blessed with Highlights.

(Holiday gifts????? :) )
