Bush's Summer Reading List

Supposedly 20 books read since June.

He likes mysteries and the Flashman books.

2. Who the hell do they think they're fooling?
Bush doesn't have the attention span to read half these books or the vocabulary to read the other half.

I can just see him sitting down to read Hamlet. Oh suuuuuure.

12. My thought on Shakespeare was 60 is late in life to finally be
getting to them. We read Macbeth in high school. Also Camus' The Stranger

24. I read Hamlet and Macbeth in high school.
I also read them this year. Once in high school is hardly sufficient for Shakespeare. But, I still don't believe bush read them.

29. maybe Jon Stewart was onto something -- Bush finishing Grade 9?
Other DUers have noted that the Camus book is often used in high school lit classes (one of the required texts in my French course was one of Sartre's existentialist novels, though of course Bush would probably not take that particular elective!).

Maybe he is using Intelligent Design to try to get out of dissecting the fetal pig in Biology!

27. Here's how Chimp remembers Hamlet's soliliquy:

To tee, or not to tee--that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the fairway to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous bad lies
Or to take arms against a sea of bogies
And by opposing end them. To lie, to slice--
No more--and by a mulligan to say we end
The handicap, and the thousand natural hazards
That par is heir to. 'Tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished. To divot, to hook--
To whiffle--perchance to cheat: ay, there's the rub,
For in that nineteenth hole of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal scorecard,
Must give us pause. Or a new caddy.

As in, they are stuffing the sale of george w. bush again--just like they did with the codpiece.

also, what a face, as in: Ridiculous or empty show; as, a mere farce.

28. as long as he's reading John D. MacDonald ...
... I wish he'd read "Barrier Island" -- which exposes sordid development deals along the Gulf Coast (mentioning many areas which later got flattened by Katrina). MacDonald saw what was coming, all right.

try to make it somewhat believable. Harry Potter is a stretch, much less MacBeth.
