23. Here was my post from a little while ago...
The audience is maybe 150 tops...

>>I was at the taping late today for tonights show...it's a killer!!! He does a GREAT job on the Bush news conference and then does this bit on "Imagine" with an ending that awesome!!! Also "The Many Moods of Bush"...FUN-NY!!

William Cohen was the guest and Jon does a great job of trying to get him to spill his opinions of Rumsfeld...funny...

What a fun experience!! We had VIP seats and sat right in the front!! Weird that they tape it and have pauses as long as the commercial breaks - maybe to give it the live feel? There are no 2nd takes and there was a slight pause while they'll double checked the feed from the Colbert Report show where they are in live time of him ready to do his show...we had kind of an audience "yell off" with his audience.

Jon comes out before he starts the show and you can ask him questions...it's a very relaxed and cozy set. For the small audience, they really get a lot of noise out of us!!

Check out the show tonight!!!

30. Cool, and to answer you questions about the commercial breaks...
...they lay in the network commercials (and any blank spaces for local commercials) in real time. When it seems like nothing is happening in the studio, they are still taping the show back in the control room.

That's just how it's always been done, at least since they started using video tape. Even though they could probably use a DVR or record the show to a hard drive, they probably still record most of their shows to some sort of digital video tape, it's just faster and easier to do it all in real time, unless someone REALLY screws up, then they might stop and do a second take.

A lot of the time, they tape two or three different guests at the same time. But sometimes, when a guest won't shut up, you'll see that they have to edit out some of the interview.

I don't work in T.V. right now, but I've done a lot of T.V. related stuff for more that 25 years. :hide:

18. I've come to realize it... it's like with the wiretap ruling...
The establishment is just absolutely determined to insist that the Emperor does indeed have clothes on, because the idea that the Emperor doesn't have clothes is just too scary. So when a 75 year old black female judge proclaims that the Emperor has no clothes, the media and esteemed legal commentators speaking out of ignorance of the specifics of the case rushed to pronounce, "Yes, the Emperor DOES have clothes, how DARE you suggest otherwise!"

They're just too scared of the consequences of a President being as out of touch as bush seems to acknowledge it, or admit to laughing about it.

26. That was creepy.
What's with people that are running this government that so many of them are writing fantasy novels a la Tom Clancy? Memoirs I could understand, but these novels are something else. Why do these people need to day dream about being secret agents?

This IS one to make an exception for.
