"It's our god against their god." Washington Journal caller |

response to a question about whether to negotiate with Iran.
She also stated that god gives us the leader needed for the times and that America needs to get on god's side.
Get the impression that his person believes that all Americans are christians? She certainly is a concrete thinker.

Why they always think 'God' is on their side is beyond me. Guess that is just part of the pathology . .

This may actually be true.
America may, in Dog's eyes, have needed to be "taken down a peg or ten" so as to be rid us of some hubris about being a "kinder, gentler" super power, an empire with rights to stand astride the planet even if it kills everyone else on the planet, etc.
So Dog gave us President Bush.

Sounds rather strange to use it when fighting Xians and Jews, if they have the same god, doesn't it?
Rather like having Xians go on a pogrom against Jews or a crusade against Muslims saying "Our God is great!" Some theologians may say they're the same, but the presupposition inherent in the cry is that they are completely different.

46. Which force of energy are you talking about? |
|
I believe Newton said that energy can never be destroyed, merely change form. What we have seen in the past are the many manifestations of God CONCEPTS. Right now, what we have is another change in this concept taking place.

Please don't take this the wrong way, since I generally appreciate your posts, but Mr. Science has to step in to make a couple points:
1. You're quoting the law of conservation of energy, which is not one of Newton's three laws. He certainly wasn't ignorant of it, but the concept was still in development during his time.
2. More importantly, the energy that is "neither created nor destroyed" has a particular definition. It's "the capacity to do work." A practical application of the law is that, when a precise amount of wood is burned, the energy contained in the chemical structure of the wood is released as heat. You can calculate the amount of heat using the law of conservation of energy. The scientific law of conservation of energy doesn't apply to other concepts that people may choose to label "energy," like God concepts.
That's all!

|
Edited on Wed Aug-23-06 07:01 AM by marmar
a song off their last CD "Playing the Angel":
John the Revelator Put him in a elevator Take him up to the highest high Take him up to the top where the mountains stop Let him tell his book of lies
John the Revelator He's a smooth operator It's time we cut him down to size Take him by the hand And put him on the stand Let us hear his alibis
By claiming God as his only rock He's stealing a god from the Israelite Stealing a god from a Muslim, too There is only one god through and through Seven lies, multiplied by seven, multiplied by seven again Seven angels with seven trumpets Send them home on the morning train Well who's that shouting? John the Revelator! All he ever gives us is pain Well who's that shouting? John the Revelator! He should bow his head in shame

What does it matter if a person is a muslim, jew, hindu, buddhist or christian in this community? What does it matter if members of this community don't believe in God at all? Here, the value of a person is gauged by what comes out of a persons mind and spirit. Here, there are dirty handed angels with enough compassion for the whole world. If it can happen here, it can happen everywhere.

Maybe God is actually one of those evil sci-fi-type gods that likes to see pain and suffering, in fact, thrives on it and so sets up their creation to maximize that?
