Screw that!

Didn't Bush* say that if he met with one person who wanted a private meeting, then he'd have to meet with them all?

Aaaaaaaargh!

I am sure that Rockey deserves his meeting in order to tell Bush what's still screwed up in NOLA, but the sheer hypocrisy of watching Bush* looking all smug about his generosity in meeting with Rockey this morning coupled with his patronizing, swaggering, stumbling statements about "progress" while holding his press conference with Rockey by his side FELT LIKE ACID BEING PUMPED INTO MY BRAIN.

That is all. Carry on.

1. Rockey is on right now lying about how the "little guy" has access
to the pResident. He's talking to Rush's ex-girlfriend on CNN, extolling W's virtues and the KAtrina response.

Edited on Wed Aug-23-06 09:49 AM by Bumblebee
wouldn't. Rocky was a very polite guest -- so polite, I now think it was all staged from the start. Also: he "lost everything" in Katrina and she merely lost her son in Iraq...

14. I agree ...
they need something or someone to counteract cindy or any other person that they pin as the poster child for a liberal, democrat or what ever they are calling anyone who disagrees with bushit.

7. Now If I Hooked A FEMA Trailer To My Truck And Took It On The Road.....
I would get arrested for stealing 'government property'. Could this Rocky thing have been a Rovian set-up to make * look good. Let's face it I'm sure there are tens of thousands of other Katrina survivors that wouldn't be as nice to *. Why did they let this guy get through?

12. It wasn't a FEMA trailer
This is a big story down here, many people were following Rocky and cheering him on:

Caravan leaves Chalmette, on way to Washington, DC

Against a backdrop of high fives, pats on the back and high school band members playing the theme from "Rocky,'' a caravan left Chalmette this morning on a journey to the nation's capital to bring attention to the plight of Hurricane Katrina victims.

Rockey Vaccarella of Meraux is towing an "honorary'' FEMA trailer to Washington, D.C., where he says he will try to dine with President Bush.

"This isn't negative,'' Vaccarella said as the caravan prepared to leave. "I want to thank him. But I also want to tell him please don't forget about us - the job's not done.''

Vaccarella, who now lives in a FEMA trailer outside his flooded home, knows that might be un uphill battle, but, he said, "We'll do the best we can.''

The caravan includes several vehicles, a couple of motorcycles and a trailer Vaccarella borrowed from a friend. He said federal regulations prevented him from towing an actual FEMA trailer.

19. He got on the road saying he would tell Bush
what a great job he was doing as President. Orignally, the media was stating that the President was not planning on meeting with him. Now it's a done deal.
Rocky said he was looking forward to cooking the President some Louisiana food.
I wonder if the President will take himself and the media for a drive through St. Bernard when he comes to NOLA.
Good thing we're sending the President some water, since there is no drinking water in St. Bernard!

20. I'm Sorry - The MSM Didn't Make That Absolutely Clear That It.....
wasn't a FEMA trailer. I consider myself more read than most about what's been going on in this world - I guess I missed that little fact. I was led to believe that he was towing a FEMA trailer.

How more obvious could he be? I think that in the end, this stunt will be a huge embarrasssment to Bush administration. It it isn't, it should be.

9. I feel your pain...and
I hope it's his wily way that got him the meeting and not because he actually believes what he says his message is.

And, yes, it's quite obvious that it depends on the nature of the requested meeting with the president that determines whether or not one will get that meeting. You bring up an excellent point.

11. Did it take Rockey for bush to know that there are a lot of...
problems in N.O. This is the same shit he did when the people were stuck at the Dome dying for water. He and he should have been impeached a long time ago. He just wants the photo-op.

18. I agree with that
now, how do you do the research on this guy to find out his real background? Is he a member of the swiftys or what.

We all know anything that might be good about this administration has to be staged and then dropped down the memory hole. Funny the guy didn't come forward last month or the month before.

damn them for almost getting away with another pr prank, spending time, money, energies in the attempt to LOOK good rather than actually DOING anything. fuck bush, fuck rockey and fuck karl

Edited to add, I do feel sorry for what Rockeye had to go through with Katrina, but this does not excuse his selling out and pimping for Mr.bush.
