What's the deal with Rockey Vaccarella?
Rockey Vaccarella is the guy from St. Bernard's Parish, LA and has hauled his FEMA trailer to Washington, DC to "thank the president for the FEMA trailers and to let him know the job to rebuild New Orleans is still not finished."

This morning, he got his meeting with Bush and in a brief show for reporters he stated the he "wish the president had four more years."

Is this guy for real? Does he really believe what he's saying verbally, or is he a crafty individual, a wolf in sheep's clothing, coming at the system through the back door to get his message out?

Make a big stink like the prez is in trouble with you then capitulate and trumpet the prez with mega-kudos.

We've seen this before.

Remember in 2004 when there would be a big flurry of attention on a supposed negative comment by someone like Schwarzkopf, and then a few days later they'd be MORE attention as Schwarzkopf would endorse Bush at a rally covered by the entire press corps.

15. It's got a Rovian stench all over it, for sure. (Babies and incubators?)
He's a caricature of a campaign commercial.

5. Third possibility -
Maybe this is one character whose fema trailer really does represent a step up in the world. 'Course that five grand he was paid to cart it to DC and spout such nonsense doesn't hurt, either.

6. His remarks were so transparent that I am sure he is more of an
embarrassment than a plus for Bush. Especially since he refused to meet with Cindy but agreed to meet with fool.

13. I'm sure in a few days, the real story will leak out.......
Maybe we'll find out that the FEMA trailer was merely a prop provided for the stunt (does FEMA allow people to cart their trailers all over the country?), or that he doesn't actually live in St. Barnard Parish or LA. This is just another photo op, plain and simple.

21. he didn't haul a fema trailer
local coverage makes it clear that fema stopped him from hauling the fema trailer

somehow he got a non-fema trailer to haul as a stand-in

i haven't followed every step of this depressing story, i got a read on him right away that he was going to apologize for st. bernard being crapped on by bush

let some of the people who had to be rescued off the roof of their house by vancouver or mounty helicopters speak to *co -- if * ain't afraid to look them in the eye -- when usa abandoned that parish, the canadians had to step up to the plate

22. KKKarl would never allow anyone who isn't a supporter within
earshot of the chimp, he'll never be confronted by the victims of his neglect. As far as I'm concerned their negligence was and continues to be criminal.

14. I gotta believe he's a shill -- local GOP club or insurance agency.
He was too well rehearsed - far, far too glib. He was quick to claim that all the homes survived the winds and suffered all their damage from the floods as the levees broke. That's music to the insurance companies' ears. He's a fucking campaign commercial - a P/R stunt, staged and orchestrated by the right wing.

23. I'm a little late to the party, but...
... Tahiti, you were spot-on from the beginning.

Isn't it amazing that after six years of Bush-Rove make-believe photo-ops, the media shows no skepticism whatsoever when a "plain-talkin' folk" shows up at the White House and gets an instant meet-n-greet with the most powerful man in the world?

25. Yep. The media are merely a echo chamber for the regime's P/R.
As blatant and transparent as the "Izod Warriors" in Broward, this guy might as well display the "I Luv Duhbya" tattoo on his ass for all the media cares about that quaint thing called 'journalism.'

It was one of the first things CNN assaulted my senses with this morning, and it was clear to me in less than 30 seconds that this guy was a total shill - a prearranged and scripted photo-op, orchestrated by the Goebbels Brigade in the White House cellar.

16. He's just thrilled to be still living in a FEMA trailer after a year...
I think the guy is for real. Real delusional, too.

Kagan on CNN was wondering why Bush was willing to meet with this guy and not Cindy Sheehan, because Bush has always used the excuse with Cindy that, "if I meet with her, I'll have to meet with everybody." That's an easy one to answer, Daryn: You can always make room on your schedule for someone who will feed your ego and kiss your ass, and make your fuck-ups seem like successes.

20. there's one in every crowd
i'm sorry to say that my sense of him from local media is that he is happy to drink the kool-aid, always was, always will be

he was not allowed to haul his trailer to d.c., he had to haul a "stand-in" non-fema trailer

for true, i can't make up this stuff

for some the hatred of the black man and hence the democrats is more important than voting one's wallet or taking care of one's own family, and my guess is that sadly rockey falls in such a category

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=1969437&mesg_id=1969437

Of course, it is at least theoretically possible theat even a repuke could do some good for the region, given the situation they're STILL in a full YEAR later :grr: , but this ain't it, just a finely crafted Rovian photo op. :puke:
