CONTEST! Name ONE Bush success, WIN A FREE DVD!
On the BI30 Blog...

Challenge to my Right-wing brethren:
Name just ONE Bush success in six years and WIN A FREE DVD!

Where Reagan actually RAISED taxes four times in eight years to control the exploding national debt, “George W” has no such commitment to fiscal responsibility, for whom “tax cuts” is an all-purpose panacea to solve every fiscal problem his (mis)leadership has created.

Monday, President Bush conceded once again that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, yet, according to him, invading that country was necessary to stop an “emerging threat”. How exactly a country with no “weapons of mass destruction”, that had been disarmed by years of intrusive inspections and careful monitoring, was “a threat” isn’t clear. And any argument that we “liberated” the Iraqi people from the oppression of Saddam falls flat in the wake of the daily violence and civil war that has gripped that country since we invaded almost four years ago. I never really bought that “justification” anyway because, as far as I’m aware, Saddam didn’t set up roadblocks at the borders to stop people from leaving. If life under Saddam was bad, apparently, it was tolerable because the only mass exodus of Iraqi’s was the Kurds that moved into Northern Iraq to live under the protection of the U.S. “No Fly Zone”.

The invasion of the first of three countries in Bush’s “Axis of Evil” has reinvigorated the nuclear aspirations of the other two. Iran’s stock is soaring while the U.S. and Israel’s are sinking like a stone. Al-Qaeda is larger, more widespread, more proficient and more admired in the Muslim world than ever before, and now, the Bush Administration has even managed to make Hezbollah look “heroic” and “respectable” in the wake of last weeks bombing.

Unrest in the Middle East due to Bush’s aggression has sent oil prices skyrocketing, making these Arab dictatorships and theocracies absurdly wealthy. It is American oil dollars that allows Iran to help Hezbollah in looking like the benevolent savior of the Lebanese people.

Even those few things that some people may begrudgingly give the Bush Administration credit for… fighting AIDS in Africa for example, suffer from stipulations that those African nations may not use that money to purchase cheaper generic drugs to help more people for the same money, or distribute condoms to help prevent spread of the disease, because the Religious Right would scream bloody murder if they did.

7. For who?
I've signed that "Do Not Call" list twice. I still get three calls a day.

The D.N.C. list has a nice little "existing relationship" loophole where all they have to prove is that they have done business with you in the past and they may continue calling you.

It also does not apply to charaties, of which the greatest percentage of calls I get are from.

In any case, It appears the above two examples are probably the most helpful things to come out of this Administration. :)

call from the March of Dimes. Idon't think I getmore than one a month now, and I can deal with that.

22. WOW, are you surethey have your name on the DNC list?
The other thing you can do iswrite downthe names of the people who are calling you, tell them you are on the DNC list and if they call again, you will sue them for $1,500 each time they violate your privacy. If you get10 calls a day, there sure must be duplicates in there!!!!

4. There are lots of them
A C student was selected president. He is successfully destroying our country. He successfully invaded Iraq and convinced America that Sadaam was part of 9/11. Now he lies and said he never made that claim and is not held accountable. That is a success.

He is successfully following his agenda to destroy public education, ruin the middle class and destroy our way of life.

How can anyone not see how successful he has been?

My new bumper sticker: THEY IMPEACHED FOR MONICA, WHY NOT KATRINA?

So another success is avoiding impeachment.

6. He's made France look good.
Edited on Wed Aug-23-06 04:33 PM by calimary
To me, however, France ALWAYS looked good. I never once ate a "freedom fry." In fact, I'd refuse it on principle. But it's good for him to do that for the sake of other pairs of eyes that have had trouble seeing clearly.

AND he's made it okay not to want to send your kids to Harvard or Yale. I mean, LOOK what they produced. After Clinton, bush came along and gave Yale a HUGE black eye and bloody nose.

And he's grown us more Democrats!

10. Turning Iraq into a charnal pit
I mean, that MUST have been what he was trying to do.

Also: Making Iranian whackjob president look sane, effective and statesmanlike

Now THAT was a trick.

12. All the talk about bu$h's success - it all depends on on what defines it
If you define success by totally annihilating the middle class then he has been moderately successfully.
If you define success as running the government into debt so deep it will never recover, he has been a huge success.
If you define success by warmongering, another huge success.

If you define success by trying to be the worst leader in history, he is at the top of the class.

All these failures may be what they are calling success in the PNAC circle. That is just how fucked up they are.

13. Defining "success".
It is pretty sad when no one can name even ONE legitimate success story halfway into Bush's second term as President. How bad is THAT?

19. he succeeded in making Nixon look like a halfway decent guy
-- even Nixon had the integrity to resign when "the jig was up."

not so with der chimpenfuhrer, he will continue to rain death and destruction on the planet, spout his incoherent, twisted lies, and give Americans a bad name for as long as he possibly can.

is notable success. George III, Robert E. Lee or Adolph Hitler couldn't accomplish that feat.

23. Man, this is worse than I thought.
I made the offer half in jest when I posted it on my blog today... I mean I will keep my promise to buy them one of the five listed DVD's... but I half expected that SOMEONE would have come up with AT LEAST ONE positive accomplishment that had slipped my mind!

I'm thinking now of converting the entire BI30 Contest site... which has floundered and ends tomorrow... into a legitiamate contest over this ONE question! Yeesh!

I'd probably have to better define "accomplishment" though first! ("positive" and "part of an agenda Bush put forth as positive for America" might do it.)

25. He cut the defecit by almost $ 200 billion
Of course he raised it by over $ 400 billion first.

A more serious note, the 10 % income tax bracket is a success.

I put $ 4,000 into my Roth IRA this year and I'll say that's a success.

There's two real ones.
