Kerry Blogs On Daily Kos!
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2006/1/20/175232/080

There's something that doesn't sit right with me when, on the day Osama Bin Laden resurfaced in a disturbing audio tape, cable television ends up in a game of name calling as a war protester is compared to Osama Bin Laden.

That's reason to be outraged - but even more outrageous is the fact that in a flurry of sound bites what was lost was a real discussion of the fact that more than four years after the devastating attacks of 9/11, more than four years after George Bush boasted we wanted Osama "dead or alive," more than a year after Osama Bin Laden showed his hateful face in yet another video, this barbarian is still very much alive and boasting of additional attacks against the United States....

4. The way to hurt the media is to blog them out of existence.
The main stream media can feel the cool wind of irrelevance and it is putting a chill in the bit of spine they have left - but when political leaders start posting in earnest as John Kerry has here the wind speed has picked up significantly. The use of this medium is more significant than the message.

9. Absolutely! And with so many people now thoroughly disgusted with
the media, now nothing more than hate radio with pictures, spewing the same rightwing propaganda, blogs are the place to go to get REAL news and indepth reporting.

After yesterday's Washington Post's disgraceful conduct, first publishing the two rightwing talking point lies, already debunked so many time, about the Republican Abramoff scandal, then acting shocked that their readers reacted with passion, not to mention the shameful suggestion by Chris Matthews that an American citizen, who loves his country enough to stand up and fight for it, is akin to a murdering terrorist, and then this week's announcement by CNN that they are hiring a hatemonger from rightwing talk radio, and two other rightwing radicals, I think the media is, to use a Cheney metaphor, is in its last throes.

If Democratic politicians refused to show up on television shows and all started posting on blogs, think what that would do to their ratings. And to the ratings of blogs.

The WaPo's thin-skinned response to their readers' outrage, which they characterized as hate speech, amongst other things, (and we had to take their word for that, since what WE all saw was intelligent, sourced responsed, angry yes, and justifiably so after years of lies, serious lies that led to war, it's clear the future of news is sadly, no longer the old media.

Kerry showing up on a blog is a great start. As I recall, Rep. Conyers did visit DU a while ago. I hope more Democrats avail themselves of this medium, where at least they will not be interrupted, swift-boated and talked over by smarmy, slimy, apologists for this admistration.

Here they may get some tough questions, and I would like to have a conversation with some of those Republicans also, if they had the nerve to show up on a blog, where, god forbid, they could talk to the PEOPLE, for a change.

Good for Kerry ~ I hope this happens often.

5. Here's what doesn't sit right and it TOTALLY PISSES ME OFF.
He's blogging on a site where KOS ridicules people doing great election fraud research, calls them "fraudsters," and where KOS dispatches Armando to issue dictats saying "mental hygiene" needs to be performed by ridding DKOS of those concerned with election fraud.

CAN KERRY BUY A VOWEL, CAN HE JUST FIGURE OUT WHO HIS FRIENDS ARE AND WHO THE ENEMIES ARE. I'M SO SICK AND TIRED OF THE LEADERS WHO KNOW BETTER CONTINUALLY CATERING TO SUPPOSED FRIENDS OF THE PARTY WHO IN FACT ADVANCE POSITIONS THAT SPELL OUR DOOM. AND THE SAME GOES FOR CONYERS AND OTHERS WHO BLOG THERE. MAYBE IT'S THE HIGH HIT COUNT DAILY THAT DRAWS THEM BUT THEM MIGHT TAKE THE TIME TO EDUCATE THEIR "HOSTS."

6. hmmm, maybe he's trying to educate and persuade them
I usually slam John Kerry for taking a comfortable seat after the Ohio vote fraud. He should have gone to Ohio and called for America to come join him there.

Of course, he should not have travelled there by plane. I still like him a lot (shhh).

7. I like both Kerry and Conyers. Why aren't they posting here.
The DKOS stand on election fraud is an outrage. I will gladly remind everybody of that when we have our day and this whole sorry mess is uncovered. I just wish people would do a bit of research into the blog that they post at...and I don't see why we're left out in the cold. Just blowing off steam on a dupe thread;)

11. DU is really a "Message Board." A Forum where you can post Great
Edited on Sat Jan-21-06 12:41 PM by KoKo01
Thoughts along with Grafitti Scrawls and everything else inbetween. Coming here for a Politician is more like standing up on a street corner in a large city and giving a speech where anyone walking by can shout out either praise or an attack. It's too "unknown" an audience for it to work for most of them. Also DU takes up too much time...reading through hundreds of posts when one is very busy isn't something that's very appealing. So it's a better site for politician's aides to come to and sort through for opinions.

That's my 2cents thoughts.

13. DU is Jacksonian; KOS is Praetorian. Whatever.
Someone pointed out that at least Kerry is blogging. That's good and KOS gets a lot of hits.

I like my politicians flying commercial and sitting in coach...eat the peanuts and learn that there's no leg room. I think if more politicians actualy drove their own cars during business hours, went to a variety of hospitals instead of the 'leet, and had a mother-in-law try to figure out the Medicare prescription "benefit," we'd be in much better shape. It's the same principle Michael Moore enunciated recently when he said, "It's amazing that not one GM executive has ever driven on a Honda or Toyota." They'd have to make better cars if they had.

8. I'm impressed that he went into the lion's den
considering Kos is NOT friendly to Kerry. I'm happy to see that there are some people over ther impressed as well that he would show up on hostile territory.

As for why there as opposed to there, as much as I agree about Kos and esp. Armando, the diaries themselves are what makes that site, something Kos himself doesn't always get. It's a very gestalt site. Feingold is there. Conyers is there. Slaughter is there. And now Kerry is there. The diary format is idea for someone to post and run, it seems. I have yet to see any of the people I mentioned here on DU with an account.

So I'm thrilled as hell that Kerry showed up there. Good for him. Apparently some of the folks on the Kerry Group suggested to him that he needed a blog presence. He listened. Good for him.

15. Go Kerry
I have always thought Kerry had a lot fight in him. He keeps pounding the facts until someone gets the message. The Repukes will keep ridiculing him of course, just as Brit Fumes did after the election, but he keeps on going.

No matter what they say, JK, you keep on going.

16. I'm livid again at the reminder my guy finished second.
Such reason and intelligence.

Yet look at what we have in the White House today.

I need a moment to collect myself. Be back later this afternoon. I am going to take my kids out to shoot some hoops.
