MICHIGAN: RUTH JOHNSON ASKED TO STEP DOWN
Here's the link to the front page story in today's Oakland Press asking Ruth Johnson to step down from her Clerk's position.

1. In the mood for a protest/rally? Join us!
Details:
1 p.m., today (8/24) at the Oakland County complex in front of the courthouse at 1200 N. Telegraph.

Signs will be provided. If you bring your own sign, please keep in mind the focus of this protest is to get Ruth Johnson to resign or step aside temporarily while she is actively running for office and the fact that she has duties that involve her counting votes in Oakland county. This is akin to Ken Blackwell being Secretary of State while running for governor.

Oakland Press and the Detroit News will be in attendance. Hoping for TV coverage as well.

3. Not defending her
but I am just curious. Has any politican anywhere, either Democrat or Republican, ever resigned to run for office?

Before you say that she is in charge of the voting, I would say that the city clerk in Wayne County didn't resign to run for re-election. In fact this happens all across the country.

I'm concerned about voter backlash. Some will look upon us as a party of crybabies, calling foul, and that we do the same thing as Johnson ourself.
