Last night was 'fee night' at the High School my kids attend. |
|
*Don't ask*.
Anyway, I was wearing my Peace Monger tee shirt and this asshole actually looked at the shirt and snickered.
Me: (Just because I am an angry white female)
Yup. I'm a peace monger, unlike you war mongers who voted for the idiot in chief. And, since war causes death, I guess we know which one of us is pro-life. And, if you are so pro-war, I have enlistment papers in my van. Would you like me to get them for you?
He sort of stammered and walked away. YAY for me. I'm so sick of these fucktards.

for various class labs and school activities, parking passes, etc., before school actually starts.

29. I just bought one of those! Thanks... |
|
You inspired me...:) I'm not afraid, but then again I live in a very liberal area.
I was buying a t-shirt of a band I like (Against Me!) and they had a design that said "Fuck You George Bush (and your daddy)!" I thought about it for a second, but even in a very liberal area, I don't think I'd have the guts to wear that out in public. Also I'm a mom and probably shouldn't encourage that sort of thing. :)
However I will wear my Worst President Ever shirt with pride. I got the one that looks like the Bush-Cheney campaign logo. Too cool.

I objected to a word you used, and then objected to the assumption that because you had "clearance" to use that word, no one else who might be affected should be offended.
Speaking up about something that offends you has nothing to do with class. After all, that's what your opening post is all about, isn't it?

We have four small boats, some .22s and a couple spearguns. We could easily launch a sea attack into Watch Hill. Commandeer some yachts. Rhode Island would fall in a few hours.

What you said was sooooo perfect!
You are brave to wear the t-shirt and to respond to him like you did. Obviously, he was responding to your shirt and he wanted you to see that he was belittling you. It's interesting that his only response was to "snicker."
Notice that these jerks can't verbalize why they're for the lying, murdering and third-rate thuggery? They really haven't thought it all through. They only know that they're for war and that they love Junior. Lemmings!!
This is so awesome. You rock!

By the way, my sister had to supply toilet paper at one of the public school districts in Alabama. That's right, the students had to supply their own toilet paper.

|
I guess I don't find that as ridiculous as toilet paper. It seems to me the school system could procure that at a much cheaper rate wholesale then the individual taxpayer can. How many tax dollars does that save a year in the scheme of things? The thinking is so convoluted sometimes.

26. We run out of tissues every year |
|
because so many kids don't bring them. And I end up buying them for my classroom. I HATE supply lists and I think it is ridiculous we have to ask parents to send tissue, but the school district will not buy it for us. In my perfect world, schools will not ask parents to send any supplies. (We will also have the latest technology in air conditioned classrooms.) But until that day arrives, I have no choice but to ask my students to bring tissues.
So remember you are saving a teacher money she could be spending on pencils when you buy that box of tissues for your child's classroom. :)

halfway through the school year. We're in one of the "richest" counties in the country. I feel so sorry for you guys. It's a disgrace that schools can pay for their own supplies. Oh, that's right it's because we pay the teachers too much.:sarcasm: :sarcasm:

28. In the district where I teach, there is no activity fee |
|
and we don't push the supply list, especially if we know it is a hardship for a family. In the district where I live, I finally called when my son was in high school and complained about this activity fee. I said it violated his right to a "free" public education. They waived the fee!
This is so illegal I am shocked that districts still ask for it. So try complaining. It only took one phone call for me. :)

What bothers me is the folks that can't. When my eldest went to high school, she got her supply list on the Friday before Labor Day and had to have the supplies on Tuesday for the first day of school.
On this list was a calculator that retailed for $125! I have a dear friend who has twins who could NEVER come up with $250 in two days with no warning.
It sucks.

But one of the first things you learn in college education classes is that all kids in this country are entitled to a FREE public education. Free means free. Someone needs to take this to court.
