Al-Qaida Possibly Behind FOX News Kidnappings?
Al-Qaida Possibly Behind FOX News Kidnappings
United Press International

The kidnapping of a 2-man Fox News television crew in Gaza has the hallmarks of an al-Qaida operation, terrorism experts tell ABC News.

The U.S. reporter and New Zealand cameraman were taken at gunpoint Aug. 14, and nothing was heard of them until Tuesday when a videotape and note were given to the Arabic media.

The kidnappers set a 72-hour deadline for all Muslim prisoners to be released from U.S. prisons, and included exhortations of Islam and threats to infidels.
..................
The rhetoric is vintage al-Qaida, Gerges said. This is consistent with what we have seen in Iraq and other places.

1. Then again it could just be CIA trying to make it look like Al-Qaida
is involved in Gaza.

3. 72-hour deadline .....or WHAT?
Mahmoud Abbas is saying they're hanging about, so who knows:

Additionally, last March, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas expressed concern over an al-Qaida incursion to the Al Hayat Arabic daily newspaper, the report said.

"We have indications about a presence of al-Qaida in Gaza and the West Bank. This is intelligence information," Abbas said.

4. Here's hoping its not some mercenary/contractor black ops
designed to generate enough sympathy to drown out Katina's anniversary.

5. "All the hallmarks of an Al Qaida operation." Yeah. Right.
Uh...that means it was performed by muslims who are pissed off at the United States, or perhaps insurgents who are pissed off at the United States, or maybe locals in Baghdad who love their country and are pissed off at the United States. Oh, wait...I'm beginning to see a pattern here. "All the hallmarks of Al Qaida" is basically the same as saying "they were pissed off at the United States." Hell, who isn't these days? I'd say being pissed off at the United States merely shows that you're paying attention!

13. Some guy was on CNN just now saying that the demands were
stupid, they couldn't be done, and that it could just as easily be kids, or a bunch of incompentents.

8. When in doubt....
it's Al-Qaida! I listened to the CNN Footsteps of Ben Laden last night. As much as Amanpour tried to demonize Osama, I could actually understand where he's coming from....I don't like the tactics Al-Qaida has used in the past but they have had enough of the U.S. and its allies. Why don't we just try to get out of the ME sandbox and see how that works for a while to tame Al-Qaida?

9. Yeah right, like that's about to happen.
The sad truth is that the only thing that will get us out of their sandbox, which is after all what they want, is for the oil under their feet to move to Europe.
