Wife of Soldier killed in Iraq tells Bush "it's time to stop the bleeding"
Edited on Fri Aug-25-06 09:11 AM by bigtree
Bush responded by saying ''there (is) no point in us having a philosophical discussion"

Friday, August 25, 2006

By KEVIN WACK and KAROUN DEMIRJIAN, Staff Writers

KENNEBUNK — President Bush held private and at times emotional meetings Thursday with the families of five Maine service members who died in Iraq, Afghanistan and the September 2001 attack on the Pentagon.

One anti-war widow said she used the opportunity to voice her objections to Bush's policies.

''I said it's time to stop the bleeding,'' said Hildi Halley, whose husband, Army National Guard Capt. Patrick Damon, died June 15 in Afghanistan. ''It's time to swallow our pride and find a solution.''

She said Bush responded by saying ''there was no point in us having a philosophical discussion about the pros and cons of the war.''

The president became emotional, according to Halley, when she tearfully described the effect her 41-year-old husband's death has had on her and their two children, ages 12 and 14, both of whom attended the meeting.

4. how she could let him touch her is beyond me
<snip>

''He wept and hugged me and apologized for my pain,'' Halley said.

:puke:

the rest of the article is disturbing. All of those people who love bush when he alone is responsible for their loved ones' deaths. Very disturbing.

6. the last comment praising Bush for taking 15 minutes out is amazing
IT"S HIS BLOODY WAR!! He ought to get down on his knees and weep. I don't know how they can look at him and not throw up.

5. Kudos to this woman for taking the time and energy to tell * what she
thinks. She must of had to really beef up her courage to go face him and possibly others in the group that approve of the violence and death.

Blessings on her and her kids and anyone else in that slain soldier's family.

7. Yes, Bush. There is "no point in having a discussion" about the war.
Edited on Fri Aug-25-06 09:14 AM by Brotherjohn
No point whatsoever.

Why talk, or even think, about sending thousands of American men & women to their deaths, about initiating an action which has direclty resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians, including children? Why give the widow of one of those lost the courtesy of dicussing this? Why discuss a war that has so obviously been shown to be a mistake, and is making us less safe, not more? (opinions now shared by a clear majority of Americans, but which many of us have expressed since before we invaded)

If you had ever been interested in discussing this war, perhaps you wouldn't have started it in the first place.

10. People In This Country Are Sooooooo Frickin' Naive!
If there is Anybody, Anywhere, who thinks King george gives 2 shits about what they think, they're IDIOTS!!

When are the people in this country going to WAKE THE FUCK UP, and realize that HE DOESN'T CARE WHAT WE THINK!! He's got his own agenda.

Will there EVER come a day when someone TELLS THE BASTARD OFF to his face?
