CONRAD BURNS uses MY TAX DOLLARS to send CAMPAIGN LIT!
This was sent to my boyfriend (named Eric, not Erc as Burns' staff seems to think) in an official business envelope under the guise of being constituent correspondence. Eric has never written Burns on the subject of NASA, lasers, or zero-gravity, yet he received this letter for some reason. Tell me this is NOT thinly veiled campaign correspondence sent out at my expense?

4. The envelope is clearly marked as "official business"
Aparently Denny Rehberg (our at large representative) is doing the same thing according to LTTEs in the local papers. Do they stop? Do they get in trouble? Of course not.... Who do I even call to report this? The local police? The post office? Bill Frist?

2. Unfortunately...
...it doesn't appear that anything written in that letter breaks the rules. But it's stealth campaigning, nevertheless, and about as sneaky as push-polling.

6. it's totally a "look at these bills I've sponsered/voted for..
... and how they help you." Eric has written him about gay marriage. I have written him about gay marriage and Hurricane Katrina. This isn't remotely about those subjects.

3. Call/write your state's Attorney General...
I'm pretty sure it's illegal if it's definitely a campaign piece. However, if it's just an update of what he's done (wrong...), then he might be on safe ground.

We have the same problem in our IL-10 district; the rubber-stamp repub just sent out an "update"; it had everything on it but "vote for me." And get this: he did NOT send it to everyone in the district; he only sent it to selected people. And it clearly states on the update: "This mailing was prepared, published, and mailed at taxpayer expense." Scumbag. We'll show him on Nov. 7 how we want our tax dollars spent. Go Dan Seals!!! http://www.dansealsforcongress.com/

but knowing the last time I tried to contact the Attorney General here, he'll get back to me next June...
