Karr defender: DNA samples obtained illegally
BOULDER, Colo. - The public defender for John Mark Karr said Friday that any DNA samples taken from his client in the JonBenet Ramsey slaying investigation could not have been legally obtained — and any more testing will need his approval.

As a judge scheduled Karr's first appearance in Boulder County Court for Monday, Deputy Public Defender Seth Temin filed a flurry of motions asking the judge to prohibit prosecutors and police from conducting any DNA testing without first notifying the court and the defense.

"Biological evidence reveals highly private and sensitive information about a person," Temin wrote. "Mr. Karr's right to privacy can only be protected by giving him the opportunity to be heard on this issue prior to collection of a sample."

2. I know, I know
but it gives us something to do for the lull in the news. I don't know why people get so upset reading ramsey posts. Can't they multi-task?

3. Sure, and I appreciate a cute dead white girl as much as the next guy ...
But this is too creepy even for me. Also, there's some fear that a lot of news consumers CAN'T multitask and might miss the fact that their president is about to pull a personal Chernobyl.

4. Believe me
If something like that were to happen! Jon benet would be put on a back burner so fast....but it gives us something to do to pass the time until that happens.

5. Here's hoping for the day when . . .
We hear on CNN: "The White House reports the president has been taken to Walter Reed under heavy sedation . . ."

7. Except the rest of the sentence is: "and Dick Cheney has been sworn
into office."

13. Which is pretty damn scary . . .
However, Cheney would have zero support outside the White House. Nearly powerless, Cheny'd face the Republican leadership taking over the country. And he'd would be unable to appeal to the people because, well, he's so UNappealing. He'd be Ford-minus.

This is not entirely a happy scenario -- he'd have his finger on the nuclear button, after all -- but I also think he'd be impeached toute suite. And with a Democratic House by then . . .

10. Yes
I believe if something major like that were to happen, it would knock Ramsey out of the headlines.

11. I understand that surreptitious DNA is common and accepted.
The prosecutor does not need to get permission - can get it however he/she can, as long as the suspect is not forced to give his/her DNA up. (Of course, the prosecutor can get forced DNA by court order)

12. I say take the DNA
test it and get it over with - his family says he was with them half a country away when this happened....For the life of me I can't see why they would lie about that...so I think the guy is a nut case but didn't kill JonBenet - so take the test and get this crap over with....

14. you can't see why they would lie about that?
you can't see why his FAMILY would say he was with them? maybe because they are his family? the only picture they have managed to produce is of the three children and the family's logic is that that means Karr was there, too. None of them can remember WHERE they were that Christmas, although they seemed to have it narrowed down to Alabama or Georgia.

As for the ex-wife, she called a Colorado station within 10 minutes of the news breaking to claim he was with her that Christmas. Why? Maybe she was in a hurry to clear herself as an accomplice. Maybe she was afraid she would be charged for not reporting something she may have known. She seems about as smart as a box of rocks, so it's hard to tell.

I'm not saying he is or isn't guilty, but it's no surprise his family is saying what they are saying.

I agree about the DNA tests. Get it over with, already!

16. Well I should have said his ex-wife
why would an ex-wife lie....anyway I don't think he did it because there are apparently other statements he has made that don't add up. I think he is a nut case who confessed to something he didn't do maybe he did maybe he didn't I just think they should do the DNA testing and get it over with.
