What Terrifies the Neo Cons?
Edited on Sat Aug-26-06 08:18 AM by Philosoraptor
What do they fear, the neo cons? Discovery? A Democratic house and senate? Peace? Prosperity? Democracy?

What is it that they are the most terrified of? I suggest is is we the people. I suggest that bush and his masters are terrified of we, the seemingly brain washed masses.

While they terrify the world with new unimagined terrors, surely there is something that terrifies them more than Islamic fundamentalists.

What can WE the people do to share the terror with our fearless leaders?

4. I like that idea, but will it really happen?
I doubt it, and what the heck, guys like Rumsfeld are 74 years old. Cheney has a bad ticker (so we are told). A number of the others will not likely be alive by the time the wheels of justice turn toward them. And do they really give a damn about their reputations? bush isn't bright enough to care how history will regard him "because we'll all be dead" or some such bullshit.

These guys are all in it for what they can get NOW, consequences (and the rest of us) be damned.

2. I'm not sure they are terrified of much, because they don't give a darn...
...about what people think. Let's face it, some of these old boys are nearing the end of their time on earth (rapture BS aside), and they don't care about what mess is left in their wake. They won't have to pay for what they broke.

16. The People...I agree
As another poster pointed out, if "We, the People" ever figure out, en masse, who the real "enemies" of freedom, democracy and the "pursuit of happiness" are and decide to rise up in protest or revolution, they could lose their hold over power and the wealth which buys them such power. If the "middle class" which they've used for centuries as a buffer between them and the "unwashed masses" ever decides that what they're getting for their role as overseer isn't worth the price we all pay, the repercussions against the ruling elite could be what brings them down, again.

19. Consider Their Objective,...
---- While on a wildnerness hike years ago, I and my two fellow hikers stopped by a small stream to rest. The stream at that point wrapped around a big rock as it made a 30 degree downward course change, and my friends and I noticed that, by digging out around under the "dry side" of the rock, we could alter the course of the stream. We joked that we would be "changing the face of the Earth," and impacting the area's very evolution. So we did the necessary trenching and watched as the stream gushed into it's new, more direct stream-bed, and started the long process of erosion which would one day topple that big rock over into the stream, itself. Then we hiked off, amused with the secret legacy we had left the Earth that day.

---- The neocon "fraternity," in a similar fashion, reasoned that, with the fall of the USSR, they could "change the course of history," and do so in a way that imparted their own values and influence on the resultant course-change. Popular, or majority "will" was never among their concerns, but that's how ideologues are, eh? Even in their controlling position in the Executive Branch, they are still working from "outside the system," because it is a system they feel is quaintly outdated for meeting the "big" challenges of the 21st century.

----And in case there is any doubt in your mind, those "challenges" may be distilled down to two issues: -the allocation of dwindling planetary resources,.... and WHO gets to decide the allocating. And needless to say, they play for the long-time home team of western european culture and the modern corporatist state. In this sense, the PNAC is a "supra-nation," ... (reminds me of S.P.E.C.T.R.E.)... standing guard at the gates of the "ultimate plantation."

---- John Dean's recent book illuminating the "authoritarian" psyche has nailed this bunch.

31. They believe we're all rats on a sinking ship...
...so they're determined to be the top rats, despite the fact that if they actually took positive action, the ship could be saved. But that would require sharing too much with the other rats, so that option is dismissed out of hand.

24. their fears are less important than their weaknesses
even if it plays a role to find them. IMO their main weakness is their distorted perception of reality. That's why they could be conned into a trap (like they just did in Lebanon) if only there were people smart enough to do this.

33. A Short List:
Truth...unless it verifies their stance, (rare)

Free Thought...That generally leads to Truth

Education...This leads to Free Thought

People realizing they are being played for fools.

Science

Religion...other than the ones they profess to have.

Women

Intelligent Women...(This REALLY terrifies them)

Loss of power

Knowledge

The Bill of Rights

There are plenty of other things, like, progressive change, challenges to authority and Libraries...but in a nutshell, whatever can cause a possible change in their assumption of power will be scorned. Above all else two rise to the top, Knowledge and Truth...the destruction of neo-con ideology rests on a foundation built upon these two items.
