She remembers her child
and soft summer flowers

Staggering steps

and hard metal

She remembers her husband

and autumnal nights

in the car

under moonlight

with quick heavy

breathing

and hard metal

She remembers her childhood

the praise and

the glory

from mother and dad

and hard metal

and she remembers graduating

from high school

and drinking beer

with friends

and hard metal

And remembers joining

the reserve

the army

and knowing it will

pay

for college

and hard metal

and she remembers saying goodbye to

her mom

her father

and leaving for a place she didn't

know

and hard metal

And she remembers the heat

in the big
loud

metal box

before

it exploded

and a brief flash of pain

and she sees the vehicle

and hard metal

over her body

and sees her blood

feed the sand

she remembers the sound

before she became incomplete

and she tries

to say goodbye.

end.

2. There was a story earlier last week
about moms coming back from Iraq and their inability to cope with the reality of being with their children again. One kept a knife with her at all times now...

But not coming home at all... and all for the sake of a few men's greed for oil.

So sad. So incredibly sad.

4. I read that ... It was heart breaking. Many people aren't built for war.
As a matter of fact, I don't believe anyone is.
