Will The Weather Channel soon become the most watched channel? |
|
I believe that when people are dealing with life threatening weather events year after year, their interest will turn more and more to either learning about, researching and understanding, or, simply morbidly fixating on, weather phenomena. I have noticed that the Weather Channel is starting to present shows which model future potential natural disasters, as well as chronicling past ones (some very recent). They are no doubt doing this because of rapidly growing popular interest in the subject.
I don't know what this means politically, except it probably represents a growing national and global anxiety about the directions the radical right is taking US. Whether this awareness translates into sensible decisions about for whom one should vote (assuming votes against the fascist candidate du joir will even counted), is yet to be seen.

1. there's a rather eerie prediction in the novel "Heavy Weather" |
|
The author mentions "disaster junkies" -- some of them displaced by such events themselves -- who follow emergency response crews around the country.

3. And as we hear, see and read about more of these disasters |
|
our interest will grow. Also, more of us will be experiencing these events up close and personal. Fearful times are upon us.

7. It already is in our house |
|
first because the whole family is fascinated by weather , and second because it's non-threatening...nobody is screaming, no "action car chases", no gunfire....
Alexandra Steele, Warren Madden, Sharon Resultan, Jennifer Lopez (not THAT Jalo) Kelly Cass, Bill Keneely, Marshall Seese, Jim Cantore, Mike Sidel, Paul Kocin, Steve Forbes, Christina Abernathy, Kristin Dodd, Cheryl Lemke, Stephanie Abrams....all of them are like old friends to our house.

10. I have to admit, in case it hasn't been obvious, that I'm a weather junkie |
|
My interest has been really piqued by the obvious effects of the growing global warming crisis, however.

other than C-SPAN and sometimes PBS. I wonder when the propagandists are going to start trying to spin the weather?
