New Orleans planning to evacuate next Tuesday |
|
Disaster Preparedness members held press conference this afternoon; if Ernesto stays on current course and speed, evaucation will be called for Tuesday (the anniversary of katrina.) There are hundreds of events planned to observe Katrina's Landing and they all might be put on hold because of another storm. We'll try to keep you posted. Currently on eve of Hurricane preps; but don't have to do much, since katrina, I'm one well prepared buckeroo!
Conundrum: Our home survived Katrina (minor damage) why should I care about Ernesto?

My wife will be with her mother north of Topeka during Ernesto's visit to the gulf coast. My mom-in-law's birthday is next week and I'm very happy she will be safe and sound with her family in the Land of Oz (and thats a compliment - we love Dorothy and the gang.)

3. Good luck. I'm in Jackson and already had LDW plans on the east |
|
coast. It was nothing compared to NO but we had no power for a week in 85+ degree weather...I'd prefer to avoid that again.
Again, good luck.

4. Oh, here comes the irony. |
|
On the eve of Katrina, another storm bears down on NOLA.
Best of luck down there, even now NOAA isn't certain this will form into a hurricane, let alone it's exact landfall location.

What better way to avoid the harsh light and bad political PR of the Katrina fiasco than for a similar storm to prevent all of the hoopla and publicity of comemmorating the first storm?
Crimeny, has Mother Nature Herself become a tool of the Bush Administration?

that's so ironic. It's either going to get you or me. I'm ready, too. Well, we've got to get some gas for the generator. And I have to charge up the big battery thingie for my cpap.
Here's hoping he fizzles out in the gulf.
Take care, dear BOSS.

I vote for the fizzle out thing. And I had(have) my heart set on a trip to the quarter next wednesday (get in a little christmas shopping while my wife is out of town.) Her being out of town is a godsend if we have another storm heading our way.

14. I'm hoping that this just |

goes away. If not do you know of a web site that has a list of planned shelters (I live on the North Shore) or is that all done at the last minute? I've got most of the stuff I need but I was really hoping not to be needing it so soon. Lordy, what a mess.

|
can't remember the exact name, but something like that. Call around on Monday if it looks necessary, or watch nola.com. Prediction is eye passing further east, but you will still get wet and windy.

was a shelter during Katrina. I'm pretty sure it will be one again.
There likely will be others, but I don't where.

17. I thought about this this morning, when the Weather Channel |
|
showed Ernesto on a direct course to hit NO Thursday. I thought, "Not again!", and wondered when the evacuations would start.
Everyone in NOLA is in my prayers!

Most likely to hit in the Panhandle somewhere, though if lil boots* could get a taste of a hurricane he may get off his lame ass sooner.
