They Are Not *AFRAID* Of Us.
The leadership in our country has no worries about "the people." We have been effectively neutered.

Our votes can be counted via machines that will report whatever they are programmed to report. Th paychecks of those in power will be supplemented by the courtiers called lobbyists who will provide them a luxurious lifestyle far removed from that of "the common folk." Their misdeeds and crimes in support of the hands that feed them can be covered up with a spider like spinning that numbs the brain while those who watch it slowly die.

What do they have to fear? For them, there is no God but money.

In a country with guns everywhere, the highest among them walk surrounded by those who would sacrifice their lives in their defense, while the rest walk with the arrogant pride of those who will not be called to account for their actions.

Did you vote to cut funding for cancer research? That was twenty years ago, and the families of those who mourn chalk up their losses to the cruelty of the Almighty, instead of the greed of Republicans, so have no fear!

Did you ignore HIV and AIDS because you thought it was God taking care of the "gay people"? That was twenty years ago, and those who suffer from it probably brought it on themselves because they didn't engage in 'safe' behavior.

Did you ignore warnings about terrorist attacks using planes because you were on vacation? That was five years ago, and we're 'safe' now because we take off our shoes in airports. The families of the dead don't mind -- again, there is no reason to think you will be held accountable.

Did you let a great American city drown, and its people die from neglect? The dead will be forever uncounted as their bodies washed out to sea, and yet, there is no reason to fear for the Great and Powerful -- it was a long time ago -- A YEAR! People need to move on from such things; Republicans don't make hurricanes, after all, and the fact they were in charge of the human response to it isn't something 'nice' people talk about.

In another time, and another place, there would have been a lynching, complete with tar and feathers. But that doesn't happen nowadays. We are a civilized people, and we do not do "frontier justice" anymore.

Instead, we walk around in circles, holding up signs expressing our displeasure, and we comfort ourselves with the fact that we can "vote" and throw the bums out in a Nice and Polite Manner.

And the machines count our votes ....

To lighten up change our attitude and magically the sun will come out tommorrow..Oh how deep the denial runs in this country..They are not scared of us,it's true..Because we'd rather pretend things are not as they are,and keep on with that feel-good fantasy, that magical thinking and irrational persistence of complacency and obedience and pretending everything works out somehow....This is exactly what keeps us in chains, for an illusion of easy freedom by magic and faith of changing attitudes we lose our real freedoms..Freedom begins in our disobedient free THOUGHTS and it manifests by our revolutionary actions to free ourselves by freeing each other, daring to risk losing the secure little dream, for alot of uncertainty..we look at the sunk costs and sit on it,circling with signs..not wanting to face how impotent we have become...Sadly a lot of people can't have their"beautiful minds" and good attitudes dashed and that bootstrapping can do it motivational poser new age faith fantasy upset by inconvenient things like REALITY and the dire situation we face.....NOW.

5. I wish I had a solution in mind. I know that Step 1 is identifying the
problem, but Step 2 ("fix it!) is still in flux for me. How about for you?

2. I think you are looking at the projector instead of the movie

The actors on stage are afraid in one degree or another but the ones that put them up to it are not.

Chicanery takes many forms but understanding how it is done is the first step in getting angry :-)

3. Nope, we're afraid of them.
Ass backwards is what it is. We are actually afraid more of them than any terrorists, we're afraid they'll arrest us or punish us for not obeying.

They'll jail us if we don't pay taxes, or for any little infraction that they can commit with impunity.

A nation afraid of it's own government cannot stand.

Come on, what's your rifle going to do against the US Army following orders (or be shot for treason?)?

6. I guess the German people felt the same way and you can
see from history what happened to them, when they kept silent.
