There is a tree planted in the lawn that links the two homes together.

Both can debate whether the tree is a beautiful addition to the lawn, or is an eyesore.

Both can complain or rejoice in where the leaves fall and who must rake them in the fall.

Both can argue for or against the value of the shade the tree gives.

But what neither can do is argue that the tree is not there.
