Ala. Dems: Darby (Holocause Denier) Not Welcome In Party |
|
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Democratic Party leaders want a former candidate for attorney general who denies the Holocaust occurred to stay out of their future primaries.
The party's executive committee passed a resolution Saturday informing Larry Darby that "he is not welcome in the Alabama Democratic Party."
Darby, the founder of the Atheist Law Center, responded by saying the vote shows that the state party's leadership is "intellectually and morally bankrupt."
"This is the typical heavy-handed behavior of the Alabama Democratic Party for the last 30 years," Darby said. "They're censoring me for having the wrong views." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060827/ap_on_el_st_lo/alabama_democrats;_ylt=AiL9lzEwPOogAbQgMZWKOA2yFz4D;_ylu=X3oDMTA2Z2szazkxBHNlYwN0bQ--

2. That's not even funny.. |

Denying mass genocide is completely insane and scary.. When you deny something like that happened, you leave a gap in history, and you leave a gap in the future for it to happen again. He does not belong in any party. He does not need to represent anyone in any way shape or form.

They're not censoring you. You can still say, write, and do any fool thing you want to read, write, or do. You just can't do it and call yourself a Democrat.
See, here's the thing, Darby. The Democratic Party is a political organization, a club if you will. That organization, or club, has every right to choose who it wants to be a member and who it doesn't, provided their choice of membership doesn't break any laws. Now as far as I know, no law currently exists that says you can't exclude a potential member from your club because that individual denies the Holocaust took place. Correct me if I'm wrong on that. Certainly, in most cases, political organizations, or clubs, want to expand their membership. (We need the dues.) But a point comes when you have to fish or cut bait. Do you let people in your club you think are assholes, just for their money, or do you tell them to go jump off a high spot?
I know this nice spot on the shores of the Tennessee River. The scenery is beautiful. A cliff extends up one bank. Good, nice, high spot. Jump.
