I feel so bad. I'm on the phone with a relative on the west coast, but he's actually there, so I forgot that he'd know but others wouldn't. I wasn't thinking. :-(

15. 2005
Edited on Sun Aug-27-06 08:31 PM by amybhole
And quite often, awards are based on one episode chosen for consideration by the show. I don't think this was the case for this category, but someone can correct me if I'm wrong. I believe variety shows might be exempt from that.

edit: I stand corrected on one aspect -- they just listed a specific episode number for best directing in a variety comedy etc.

46. I believe so ... they distribute "Emmy DVDs" of that episode ...
... to the academy voters, so people can have a chance to see the show. For example, the SNL episode hosted by Al Gore was the one nominated for that particular year (and that's how I got my DVD of it ... sometimes the Emmy copies show up on eBay later).

and sadly I screwed up her name. And if I had the technology, I would put a picture of Charlie McCarthy chastising me in this post. But unfortunately I am dumber than most of Edgar's dolls.

Emmy's taking shots at Foxnews, Hannity, Rush, Tony Snow, Ann Coulter, et al, not to mention President Bush and Dick Cheney. It kills the Hollywood elite that Fox and Foxnews is outFOXing them

23. Not shots at all — those rightwingers pics were flashed on the screen as
they were announcing the writers for "Real Time with Bill Maher" (if I remember correctly, Bill Maher's name was read over the picture of Cheney); it was a pretty good bit.

I bet those same idiots believe that real, actual bears are writing for the Colbert Report. I've always liked to watch the names read off for that category (writing in comedy/variety show) because those shows usually come up with something goofy/clever/funny to be played during the ceremony when they read off the (usually long) list of writers.

42. Actually, that was Bill Maher who put the shots of Coulter
and the rest up. He used their pictures when the writers of his show were introduced. It was kinda funny, but now the funniest bit of the night. That award went to Colbert and Stewart when they introduced the best Reality show award...

I am just as thrilled about Blythe Danner winning for Huff. She was brilliant on that show, as were the rest of the cast. Stupidest cancellation of a show in a long time, I can't believe Showtime did that. Grr.

but I am really enjoying Brotherhood.

Still, Huff was the best written and acted show on TV; the talent on that show was amazing. I was really pissed at them for not letting the story lines resolve themselves by giving it another season.

Grr.

27. I hope this is the Emmy thread because I just saw Dick Clark
the eternal teenager and the poor guy got really old. When I was in high school he was the DJ on the popular for teens radio station. Of course, I got older but he moved into TV with his American Bandstand program. I got old but he remained the eternal youthful host. I'm dissapointed. I thought he had found the fountain of youth, but yet it was great to see him.

28. He still was the "eternal teenager" , 'til he had a freakin' STROKE!
Bet you'd look old too! Where have you been, not to know this? He is just now beginning to walk again. I was surprised that he was able to speak as well as he did. Looked like the right side of his face is still paralyzed. Hope he makes a full recovery. I've known of people who have.

29. I think I had my own stroke so I didn't notice.
Trust me I look old. I am old. I didn't want to offend anyone. I thought that the little note that he was my DJ on radio when I was a teenager would have given my age away. I made that little note about him finally looking his age for all of us who aged long before he did. Sorry. We love him. I didn't want to offend.

Wasn't Stephen listed as one of the Daily Show writers (the underwater scene), yet when Jon et al went on stage to receive the Emmies, Stephen didn't join them. Notice that?
