Gawd! Are Tom Oliphant and Christy Harvey great, or what?
Edited on Mon Aug-28-06 12:17 PM by longship
Filling in for Al Franken for three days this week (Mon - Wed).

I was concerned about this pairing. But these guys are blowing Al off the map.
Oliphant is doing a bang-up job here. He's surprising me, a great talk show host. And Christy is providing perfect color.

BTW, Oliphant is a consumate story-teller, and a writer who is practiced in the art of metaphor. This is a deadly combination when used to harpoon the neocons. He really puts himself into this job. It makes for compelling radio. Also, he doesn't go "Um" and "Ah" all the time, like Franken does. He always seems to know what he's going to say.

What a show!!

Tom Oliphant

Christy Harvey

1. I'm usually somewhat disapointed by Oliphant when he appears on the
NewsHour. Glad he's doing a bang-up job today!

2. I was listeing in the car....
And came running into the house to turn on the radio so as not to miss a minute!

He's such a treasure. When he asked the US Rep to tell us what he sees outside his window down in NOLA.

6. You won't regret it if you do.
Hell, Oliphant should have his own show.

5. Thanks for the pic of Christy Harvey, I thought she was older and more
matronly. I have only heard her voice and never seen her picture and the picture in my head was of a woman with grayish hair in a 'doo'..she should be on teevee and not radio!

7. Tom is so quietly cool!
He's really my favorite guest on Al's show, so generally, I only listen on Thursday to hear Tom. Didn't know how he would pull this off without Al, but they're doing a great job.

8. Some of us actually like Al..
These two are doing okay. I don't think it's as great as you're making it out to be.

10. Maybe I'm suffering from "low expectations"
But I doubt it. I like Tom Oliphant's style. He's very thoughtful and deliberative. It's a refreshing break from the often "sound-bite radio".

I like Al and listen to him. But he does hum and haw too much.

9. I gotta admit, I thought the show would be a snorefest......
even more than usual, that is. Maybe the fact that Abercrombie set the pace for the show today by ripping Chimpy a new asshole over New Orleans was a big help.

They should book a similar guest for tomorrow morning.

And for those still asleep, don't worry..... It's only an hour & 15 until Mike Malloy!

17. AAR should create a show for them.
And AAR stations should replace Ed Schultz with them.
