I want to be able to get my email downloaded before cancelling - If I can not pop from comcast - then I do not feel I can cancell

next you want to highlight that and click on properties
under the general tab
this is what it should say in the first small window
mail.comcast.net
under username: John Doe (actually your name or whatever you want to call yourself) organization: blank email address: username@comcast.net reply address: blank make sure you have a checkmark inthe little box at the bottom of the window where it says
include this account when recieving mail or sychronizing
does that all look ok?

I don't know too much about it but I really do think that Nortons is your problem and they should be able to support you. if you want to go over your setting with me I will pm you my phone number and you can call me? or I can call you, I have free minutes right now.

are you actually on-line with the machine?---if it is ONLY mail that is the issue you may need to set the account to send both ID and Password--or vice versa, and also make sure that the mail is accessing the correct port.
If you aren't on line at all and are switching from dialup to cable then you may need to check that you have changed the connection method from ppp to DHCP.
If you think you are on line but cant get anything in a browser window. see if you are actually on line by checking what your IP address is. if it starts 192.xx.xx.xx or 255.xx.xx.xx you may in fact not be on line at all
