Poll: Lieberman, Lamont running neck-and-neck
http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/situation.room/blog/2006/08/poll-lieberman-lamont-running-neck-and.html
(CNN) -- A new poll by the American Research Group indicated a statistical dead heat in the U.S. Senate race in Connecticut between upstart Democratic nominee Ned Lamont and incumbent Sen. Joseph Lieberman.

Some 44 percent of respondents deemed "likely voters" supported Lieberman, while 42 percent said they would vote for Lamont in the November election. This gap was well within the margin of error of plus-or-minus 3.5 percentage points. Republican nominee Alan Schlesinger got backing from 3 percent of likely voters. (Full results)

Late last week, Quinnipiac University released its own poll showing Lieberman with a healthy, double-digit lead over Lamont -- 53 percent of likely voters to 41 percent. (Full story)

The main difference between the two polls lay in the percentage of respondents who said that they were undecided: 2 percent in the Quinnipiac survey compared to 11 percent in the ARG poll, more than 5 times larger.

-----------

Wish I could post this in LBN. That "latest poll" thread is OLD OLD OLD. The trend is for Lamont!

1. But...but...but
the talking heads all said Lieberman will win easily because he's soooooo popular around the state. How could this be possible?

on note: It's kind of the same thing they said last spring about joementums invincibility.

2. Winning The Senate
back to "D", doesn't include a guy with an "I"

3. Here's a homework assignment for you.
Take a look at who keeps kicking the "Lieberman leading Lamont" thread in LBN every few days.

Suspicious.

4. If the two camps' internal polls keep showing no better than margin-of-
error, I expect Lieberman to bail by September 5th.

Lamont's stature as a Democrat is growing.

Lieberman's numbers don't look real healthy.

7. That would probably be the best outcome all around.
But he's stubborn and reluctant to relinquish power, even if it's only the power to rubber-stamp.

8. Yeah, that's true. I hope somebody in his damn campaign can sit the
man down and talk sense to him in a way he'll listen.

He's setting himself up for one of the most publicized political collapses since the second world war.

6. The Repukes relegated to third party status.
okay, i should say the official repug candidate, we know what Lieberman is.
It just seems to me that the Repugs really are coming out with real stinkers. If this poll is about what will happen on election day, the official republican candidate from the State of Conn. will get a lesser share of the votes as may go the official Green Senate candidate of California.

And if Harris wins the primary in Fl, she may hardly do better, but maybe get double-digit percentage.

Is this the beginning of the end of the Republican Party? Or at least its marginalization to third party status. We can dream, can't we?

9. Some polls say it's close, other polls say Lieberman is up over 10 pts
I wish Lamont would debate Republican Alan Schlesinger and move some Republicans from Lieberman to Schlesinger.
