1. It's a shame that this story was EVER on TV, given the ACTUAL
news that should have been being discussed.

6. Another lesson we did not need
on basic media incompetence in covering ANY story. The only glancing notice I took of the story seemed to instill the impression that the guy was looking for and getting a way out of Thailand. Somehow that glaringly telegraphed curiosity lure never caught the rheumy, cataract filled eyes of the MSM despite countless subsequent signals from all other quarters and sources. But real curiosity and research, curiously, would kill the story, which serves the entertainment interest as fiction whether it happens to be true or not. Like Mt. St. Helen's not erupting or all those terrorist incidents fizzling like seltzer tablets after the mandatory binges of the reporter flock. Like all the stories that can't be covered until powerful(not truth telling, not honest experts) hand out the points. And the public that trusts and follows the blind falls into the pit over and over and over again without blaming the guides?

Imagination, curiosity, instinct so atrophied they can't themselves be imagined or intuited as missing to explain why that look so absolutely shameful trying to perform journalism. The National Enquirer has sounder ethics and competence and is more likely yo break a real story. And that is certainly not much journalistic praise for the Enquirer or The Onion or The Daily Show except as more honest substitutes in the void pretension and vanity alone would fill. In fact the field is so abandoned that the solid performance of The Daily Show is sending a BIG signal that the field is lucratively wide open to anyone who simply can and dares do the job.
