I hope they bill that sick f*** Karr for first class flight from Thailand |
|
I have done very little with following the Jon-Benet Ramsey case and especially lost interest after family members stated he was in Alabama the time of the murder.
And yet our government paid to fly Karr home from Thailand FIRST FRICKING CLASS along with all the perks of being a star suspect of a high-profile case.
And even though our government is willing to shell out thousands of tax-dollars for this sick fuck they wouldn't spend a dime on providing enough buses to evacuate the victims of Katrina
++++++++++++++++++
Personally, I think Karr needed a flight home from Thailand and couldn't afford the airfare. Make a false claim that he killed the Ramsey girl and suddenly he's flying home in class.

If I'm ever threatened with prison time in a Thai jail, I now know what to do. Confess to a high profile murder case in the United States. Avoid prosecution in Thailand and get a first class flight back.
I bet he got caught with drugs or got caught up in the sex tourism thing there, and just wanted to escape.

Until the US government asked for him to be held. Then, all that happened was that his visa was revoked and he was held until he was deported. He was not charged with anything. He was not extradited. He was deported, and the SO heard on TV that the THAI government paid for the flight home.

I'm way out of the loop on all this, thankfully. but am curious at to what exactly he was serving time for.
There's something really really strange and evil about this Ramsey case - and I don't mean just karr. I believe it's somehow connected with a ped ring, ritual sex thing with little children that Karr may have been witness to on video tape or photos, with people in high places involved and other surprising participants.
something even deeper and rotten and unholy and stinky about all this besides poor little JonBenet dieing like that...
Think about it, porn and snuff films are a Huge business by what I understand - and who usually is involved with big evil money making ventures?

I'm not saying he should be imprisoned without charges for a murder he didn't commit.
I am saying that both false declairations and obstruction of justice charges seem pretty reasonable and even called for here.
And frankly all the other evidence that has turned up during this fiasco seems to be probable cause for further investigation of child abuse on an international level.
Either way once he decided to spew he opened himself up to a number of charges...it is beyond baffling that the prosecutors wouldn't nail him to the wall for doing that.
Otherwise the precedent is that anyone can get a free flight jerking the chain of law enforcement for shits and giggles.

Only several thousand of your dollars. Say 100 million nanoseconds of the cost of our troops in Iraq.
Besides, the food on those flights is overrated. The shrimp are invariably overcooked and rubbery.
IMO, he confessed because 1)He's completely bonkers and craved the rush of attention (bet he had to change his underwear 4 times a day ever since he was arrested); and 2)He thought it over and decided an uncertain future in the US prison system was much better than an equally uncertain (but probably less pleasant) future in the Thai prison system.
I say, extradite the goniff back to Thailand immediately (I'm sure the Thai cops are extremely embarassed and eager to make it up to their US colleagues).
This time, though, we should crack down: Coach Class!

|
Most companies have a policy which states that if a flight is longer than a certain number of hours - like 6 to 8 - then they will fly first class. So that was probably for the benefit of the government employees that accompanied him than it was for Karr himself. Also, I bet they wanted privacy from the other passengers, again, for their sake, rather than for Karr's.

And here's the thing, imagine if this guy HAD been the killer, just exactly how would feel as the father watching that twisted bastard enjoy the spoils of business class, sipping on champagne and yucking it up as he flew home to confess about how he got his rocks off murdering your little girl? That guy couldn't be dead enough if I were in that situation....
As it is thousands of taxpayers dollars have been wasted when all that was needed was a goddamn cotton swab and a Fed-Ex envelope to test his DNA BEFORE he was flown back to the US...or is that too goddamn straight forward and logical.... :grr:

The Thais weren't extraditing him. The US couldn't charge him on Thai soil. International and domestic law doesn't work that way. If the Thai's had been given a convincing argument/evidence, I'm sure he would have been extradited, thus he could have been arrested.
Law enforcement from other countries can't just arrest people on foreign soil or on ships and planes. There's no "fine" about it. Laws HAVE to be followed.

He confessed to a crime that didn't happen in Thailand. Thailand had no legal basis to arrest a man for a crime he claims to have committed on foreign soil. He could have confessed to killing Princess Di, too, and kidnapping the Lindberg baby. But none of those crimes happened on Thai soil. They weren't Thai crimes and Thailand had no jurisdiction in any of them. Just as it didn't in the Karr case. In fact, if they had wanted to, the Thai authorities could have told the US that they couldn't have Karr until they were done with him. Instead, the chose to get rid of him. Good for them. But as the other poster stated, as much as you hate the guy and think he's scum, there are still laws to be followed. Just because OUR government doesn't think so any more, many other developed nations still do.

|
She authorized the expenditure of a LOT of money, because she just had to have him back in Denver for DNA testing, although the samples had already been taken in Thailand and were being processed. But she smelled a hot story and big headlines. Now, it will blow up in her face. I am amazed that people are so incensed at Karr for being arrested and thrown on a plane. Do you think it was Karr who arranged the Thai Air non-stop flight, when a cheaper flight with several stops is readily available? Nah. Karr is serious fucked up, but why people seem to thing this was all his doing is beyond me. It is a matter of terrible police work on the part of the DA.

61. I disagree. The D.A. did the legal, proper thing. |
|
Look, he had been under investigation in Thailand as a suspected pedophile. He was on the run from California where he was supposed to face child porn charges. But, more importantly, he confessed to the murder. The D.A. had no choice, whether she believed him or not, to bring him to Colorado to take a DNA test and face possible charges. Can you imagine if she knew about him being in Bangkok, did nothing and he escaped before they picked him up? How many more children would he harm around the world? She did the right thing by either bringing charges or letting him go. Either way he had to be tested, using their methods. I'm not sure the sample he gave in Bangkok would have satisfied American courts.
It sucks that he didn't do it and the murderer is still on the streets, but this D.A. did the proper thing.

the DA did what she had to do. Let's not accuse everybody of ineptitude or collusion in this. Don't turn it into a general witch-hunt.
That does not mean that there weren't some behind-the-scene players in this. The timing was all too convenient.
Still possible to me that Karr knows something. He may be a little more than the garden variety wacko. The DA has to follow up on him. She did her best in this instance.

63. You don't seem to have the story straight |

He was arrested in Bangkok, but not because of the Jon Benet case. He copped to that AFTER his arrest. He was arrested when he was because the local authorities feared he was about to take a job at a school and begin molesting kids. That was a Thai case, and if that had been it, he'd have had to deal with Thai courts and authorities. The authorities in Thailand had already taken his blood for DNA testing, they just hadn't received the results yet. The Denver DA opted to fly him back to Denver for seperate DNA tastes when she could easily have allowed the guy to sit in the lockup for a couple more days. Would that have been so bad? Leaving him in a Thai jail, quivering and sweating, fearing for his life, instead of putting him on a first class non-stop back to the states? Some people have said Karr confessed for the free flight home. I'd think a better guess would be that he confessed to get him the hell out of the Thai court system. The DA just didn't have to do what she did.

66. No, I'm not sure you have the story straight. |

You are correct that he was detained in Thailand (not arrested) and he confessed while in custody. At that point, DNA was taken, but it was not a valid sample. The DA had no choice but to bring him to Colorado. Could you imagine if the DNA had matched and he somehow got out of murder charges because his lawyers fought the "Thai" sample?
Yes, it sucks that the taxpayer had to pay for him to go from California to Colorado, but they followed legal procedure.

65. Yes, he lied about his involvement, and should face charges for said lie |

But it was the choice of the DOJ to fly him back first class, not Karr's. If the DOJ had been smart instead of bowing to media pressure, they would have taken a DNA sample in Thailand, Fed Exed it back to the US for analysis, and if there was no match, leave Karr in Thailand. Instead the DOJ made the decision to amp up the media circus and fly this guy back, even though his story was falling apart before they left the ground. Karr shouldn't pay for that ticket, I'd rather see Gonzalez pay for it, since he is ultimately responsible for the actions of the DOJ.

67. His punishment should be shipping him back to Thailand |

American jail system is too good for child pornographers, which is what his charge was in Thailand.
