Shays (R-CT) Getting Grilled on Hardball By Noran
Edited on Mon Aug-28-06 04:09 PM by stopbush
She's actually asking him tough questions. He's trying to have it both ways -
"I support the pres...we need a timeline."

O'Donnell is really hitting him...HARD! I'm surprised.

Shays doesn't support Dummy Rummy. Norah sez, "Will you sign on with the Dems when they call for
Rumsfeld's removal?" Shays dodging and weaving, "I haven't supported Rummy for blah. blah," but won't
directly answer her questions.

"Are you changing positions because of the politics in CT...because you feel politically in danger?" Shays sez,
"Why would I have called for a timeline in Iraq WHEN THEY WERE MAKING SO MUCH PROGRESS?"

Shays must go!

1. Did she get the word from Rove?
Can't have any Republicans flip-flopping on the timeline issue, or else Bush loses face?

7. He may be personally moderate

But he contributes to the RW cause by caucasing with John Boehner, Dennis Hastert, (and previously) Tom DeLay

His opponent is pretty good, and she has grown on me in recent months:

Diane Farrell

8. what's not to love?
Diane Farrell's Plan:

- Have Congress step up to its proper oversight role and get the administration to articulate and implement a transition plan in which the U.S. will reduce its role and begin to bring troops home.

- Set achievement benchmarks, rather than dates, for implementing such a pullback.

- Begin meaningful Congressional oversight of all aspects of Iraq engagement including reconstruction, private contractors, equipment, and expenditures. Unlike the current Congressional leadership, demand accountability from the Bush administration on all aspects of Iraq involvement.

- Renew pressure on the administration to remove Donald Rumsfeld as defense secretary.

9. In regards to Farrell
I heard her once on radio up in the Hartford area, and the first time she just sounded like she was spouting off talking points from a set script. I was not too impressed. However, the last few times I've heard her, she's done a much better job at not sounding so forced. She seemed much more relaxed and casual, but still able to make her points without seeming to read them off of a script.

3. Norah has her marching orders to take out all moderates.

The GOP will not tolerate any dissent from their hard right wing line.
I find it next to impossible to believe that Norah O'Donnell would do anything to help the Democrats. Her record has shown that she is a loyalist to the GOP.
