Hitler and Stalin were possessed by the Devil, says Vatican exorcist
(Posted in GD because these people actually have a hand in influencing world affairs.:scared:)

Father Gabriele Amorth is Pope Benedict XVI's "caster out of demons." The Pope's personal exorcist. And he is quite sure that Hitler and Stalin were possessed by demons. Now I've seen those here who have attributed Hitler's, and particularly Stalin's misdeeds to the notion that they were atheists, even though Hitler clearly was religious. Well, Hitler mixed in some other beliefs, but so does everybody. They kind of make it up as they go along.

So how much more authoratative can you get? The Pope's own exorcist! If anybody knows, he does.

From the Daily Mail

<snip>

"You can tell by their behaviour and their actions, from the horrors they committed and the atrocities that were committed on their orders. That's why we need to defend society from demons."

According to secret Vatican documents recently released wartime pontiff Pope Pius XII attempted a "long distance" exorcism of Hitler which failed to have any effect.

Father Amorth said: "It's very rare that praying and attempting to carry out an exorcism from distance works.

<snip>

Father Amorth, who is president of the International Association of Exorcists, said of the JK Rowling books:"Behind Harry Potter hides the signature of the king of the darkness, the devil."

Father Amorth, goes on to explain the difficulties of a long distance exorcism against an uncooperative subject. Hey, it's worth a try though. :shrug:

1. Exorcism may not work over long distances, but...
...bullshit doesn't lose it's effectiveness no matter how far it travels.

It's about time the Vatican dragged itself into the second half of the Seventeenth Century.

9. Yeah Pope Pius XII there is a saint. good lord.
Why would a Catholic exorcism work on either man. Stalin was an atheist and Hitler was a fanatical anti-semitic vegetarian tree-hugging Pagan.

12. Look at the chain of command.
They had to convert or risk losing their jobs. I guess. Anyway monotheism confuses me. There are to many deities and demigods to keep track. But who's in charge? I mean if there wasn't one god, why would any demon cooperate and get exorcised?

19. Well, he was fanatical and anti-semetic anyhow.
He was a Catholic who was no more wrapped up in reconstruction of northern European indigenous practices than was the fashion at the time and much less than many of his advisors were. He maintained good relations with the Vatican for most of his time in power, highly unlikely had he been a worshiper of Odin.

He wasn't a vegetarian, either. His doctors advised him to consume a vegetarian diet due to a flatulence problem but he had a fondness for sausages and his favorite dish was stuffed pidgeon.

Edited on Mon Aug-28-06 07:49 PM by LostinVA
VERY few priests believe in demon possesssion... and not many Catholics, either. Priests I know would laugh at this and say Stalin and Hitler were sociopaths.

(Exorcisms tend to "work" very well in certain areas.)

18. How convenient that "the Vatican" doesn't mention Mussolini.
Edited on Mon Aug-28-06 07:51 PM by David Zephyr
No Mussolini? Just Hitler and Stalin? "Adolf and Joseph were possessed by the Devil," they say.

I guess that means that Mussolini was just possessed by the Vatican, right?

20. So it seems to me that they are exonerating Stalin and Hitler
for their vile deeds by saying, "Da debbil, made me do it." ????? Even Flip Wilson wouldn't buy that one.
