Religious right fumes after Arnold signs gay rights bill
The religious right is fuming after California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed a law that requires schools that receive state funds to introduce nondiscriminatory practices relating to sexual orientation, RAW STORY has learned.

California Assemblyman Doug LaMalfa said earlier that this month that the bill would result "in tremendous crippling, if not complete destruction, of Christian Universities and colleges all throughout California."

"He speaks at churches and says he believes in religious freedom and family values," said Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families in a release, "yet he’s stabbing pro-family Californians in the back. People of faith are suffering under Arnold Schwarzenegger. He’s not the lesser of two evils, he’s doing evil.”

“People of conscience are appalled that Arnold Schwarzenegger has trampled religious freedom to satisfy hyperactive sexual activists,” Thomasson railed. "Schwarzenegger is... religious freedom at the bidding of liberal activists from San Francisco and West Hollywood."

12. Those so-called Christians should read up on the life of Christ
They are supposed to behave in a Christ-like manner... I'm sure they hate the idea that all gays are God's children too... that God loves them just as much as he does the so-called Christians... Jesus would have welcomed them with open arms and told the so-called Christians that whatsoever they do unto the least of their brethren, they also do unto the Lord...

Dumbasses can't even get their Christianity right.

we aren't going to stop until each and every "family values christian", and all of their children, have been turned into

4. They fume no matter WHAT anyone does
It's their natural state, that righteous indignation that the world is not heaven, made according to their vision of what heaven might be with outsiders forced to conform or be murdered.

I say we need to keep them fuming. Since they sniff for filth no matter how we've tried to please them I suggest we dedicate our lives to DISpleasing them.

Maybe they'll all do us a favor and drop dead from the stress.

http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/bill/sen/sb_1401-1450/sb_1437_bill_20060807_amended_asm.html

Most of the fuss is based on provisions that were in earlier versions, specifically requiring schools to teach about contributions made by LGBT people. The authors toned it down so all the bill does now is add sexual orientation to the existing list of characteristics that are illegal to discriminate on.

Gays have family values, too. I'd like to know how allowing human beings to have the same rights as anyone else is trampling on 'religious freedom', unless they are talking about the freedom to hate and demonize other human beings.

It was a bill that could have only gone to his desk from the Democrats that control the legislature here. I'm glad that they put him in the position to sign it.

The Democrats get the credit.

The Talibornagain sure are quick to throw Der Gropenfuhrer under the bus, aren't they?

Ahnold doesn't need to hate gay people to feel confident in his manhood.

That's what all those Hummers and the instances of sexual assault on women are for.

Why should he bother gay-bashing?

If they think it's hard being a Christian, they should try being an atheist. Who suffers more discrimination? I'd love to see them provide just one instance of Christians being abused in this country.

40. From the article....
Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families said, "people of conscience are appalled that Arnold Schwarzenegger has trampled religious freedom to satisfy hyperactive sexual activists...”

I think this must be a typo. He had to have meant "people of NO conscience are appalled..."

"The gates of hell are prevailing against the church," Thomasson told World Net Daily.

And you guys should feel right at home there in hell, since what you're saying is that you SUPPORT using public funds for discrimination against the same citizens that contributed those funds. How can your holinessess (?) accept those GAY tax dollars in good conscience? Mmmmm? So I've come up with an easy solution for you. Its so easy in fact, that you don't have to DO anything. Are you ready Chrsitian RightWingnuts? Okay Here comes my advice.....

WHY DON'T YOU STOP YOUR HOLY-ASSED "CHRISTIAN" SCHOOLS FROM ACCEPTING PUBLIC MONEY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

There ya go. And hey, there's no charge for the advice.....

46. I gotta say, Arnold is showing some political savvy...
In a climate that should be extremely hostile to Republicans in a blue state, he seems to have defused enough of the anger among Democrats to retain his popularity(relatively speaking). He does seem to realize a 100% rw agenda will not work in California...

Does help that his Democratic opposition is so weak...but still, gotta give him credit!

Just like the Republicans have catered to the right wing agenda on these issues in some areas but have screwed those same people on other issues which they don't care about, they are now trying to appeal to the corrupt gay crowd like his current chief of staff and Angela Bradstreet (his and DiFi's campaign cochair) that cares more about not having to pay taxes and satisfying a few other pet issues for them rather than really being for the rights and welfare of all Californians.

61. Point Loma Nazarene will have to stop being horrible!!!
I had a friend there (I went to Mount Vernon Nazarene in Ohio), and while they were quite a bit more liberal, I seriously doubt that they didn't do a lot of the same crap my college did to any gay or lesbian students. I'm sure they have their informant network, their "required" counseling to make them straight (that isn't really required when you read the fine print), and that they make all gay and lesbian students come out to the administration so they can "protect" them.

All of that has to stop. Awesome!!! Maybe gay and lesbian students stuck there will actually get to graduate (very few did from our school--most left, either by being forced out or finally escaping).

All right!!!
