MT SEN: BURNS FUNDRAISER CHIEF ACCUSED OF FRAUD.
August 28, 2006

MT SEN: BURNS FUNDRAISER CHIEF ACCUSED OF FRAUD. Another week, another scandal for Montana's incumbent Republican senator Conrad Burns. This time it's not a rhetorical gaffe, it's a question of financial impropriety, as the senator's fundraising chief -- Pat Davison -- has been accused of fraud by state auditor and former Democratic Senate candidate John Morrison.

...Morrison says Pat Davison defrauded two families of $1.2 million. Morrison said Davison convinced them to withdraw the money from investment accounts so he could put them in "fake" investments, including a bond issue from a local school trust.

Officials from the school "confirmed that no such trust exists and they do not issue bonds," the release states. Morrison has referred the matter to the state attorney general for possible prosecution.

Burns' spokesman Jason Klindt claims Davison resigned in late July, but “a search of the campaign's Web site turns up no press release announcing the departure, and a search of the Nexis database results in no articles mentioning the split.”.........

1. They really can't help themselves it seems
That's what happens when you are corrupt to the core. Doing things honestly never even crosses their minds.

3. Good! More bad news for Burns. I'm getting to think he will be
the most assured GOP Senate loss this year. I used to think it was Santorum but now my rankings go this way:

1) Montana
2) Pennsylvania
3) Rhode Island (If Chaffee is nominee, if the other republican is this one goes to the top of the list)
4) Ohio
5) Missouri
6) Connecticut (Dem Lamont beats party of one, Lieberman)
7) Virginia
8) Tennessee
9) Nevada
10) Arizona
