Lead or GET OUT (a rant)
feel free to flame away - but I have to get this off my chest

I've been fuming over Reid's recent apology. yeah, I know some DUer's think it's some sort of strategy to get headlines - but the only thing that will be remembered is the apology - NOT THE ORIGINAL STATEMENT. It doesn't strengthen the arguments - it weakens them and has as much of an effect as threatening someone with a wet noodle.

Unfortunately, this has been the Dem M.O. - take a stand, back down and bend over. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME A FREAKING REPUBLICAN APOLOGIZED FOR ANYTHING?

If the Dems can't stand up for themselves then why the hell should I think they will stand up for me or you or the rest of the country?

It's not like there's no issues out there -

* Iraq is a mess

* Iran is soon to be a mess (probably Syria too)

* Despite rosy statements - the economy sucks

* Gas/heating fuel prices are killing us (and the economy)

* Federal defict sets new records and bush* wants more taxcuts for his buddies

* Dirty money is flowing

* The bushies are spying on us illegally

* F@#%king lies everyday

and where are the Dems? "gee, sorry for being critical"

11. Remiss in not highlighting

and

and
the CBC (except Harold Ford).

But they are so few (537) and we are so many (300 million). We deserve 100% representation, not 5 percent.

2. I don't understand the apologies either. Lacks conviction.
What good is a bold statement if you back off from it? To do so negates your statement and hurts your own credibility. When Reid, Durban, and Dean have come out with strong statements they have been truthful, IMO. Yes, Junior's government is much like Nazis. Yes, Junior is a LIAR, Yes, fundamentalist Christians led by old fat white guys are monopolizing the issues.

But to back off or apologize or say they went too far shows weakness, and invites criticism of grandstanding.

I wonder if the Dems have forgotten how to fight.

6. I'm not gonna flame you....
As a part-time Nevada resident who KNOWS Harry, I am not surprised. He has done a few good things, like shutting down the Senate, but overall he is just as out of touch as the rest of Washington. He wants POWER for himself. He has refused to help certain Nevada Democrats, and that is why Nevada has a Republican Governor, as well as Ensign in the Senate. Harry said when Ensign was running, and I quote, "Well, I think whoever wins, the Democrat or the Republican, we will have a good Senator."

And yeah, I will get flamed for saying this, but I know from first-hand experience what I'm talking about, so just flame away.

7. Like most politicians, they're fundraising and watching the polls
to try and find a way to come down on both sides of an issue.

8. Peak oil (or at least enough people elsewhere believe it to be true)
'nuff said.

Question is, who will be adaptable? It's going to be a HUGE change.

10. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER....
NEVER APOLOGIZE FOR SPEAKING THE TRUTH! I hate when that happens.
Truth is the only antiseptic to clean out the pus.
