bu$h: "I will not let the people who I represent stop me from waging war"
In so many words that is what bu$h said in an interview with NBC yesterday:

Bush: Anger over war won’t change U.S. policy
President, conceding unpopularity, vows to stay the course in Iraq
MSNBC and NBC News
Updated: 11:12 p.m. ET Aug 29, 2006
NEW ORLEANS - Calling resistance against terrorism the “defining struggle of the 21st century,” President Bush declared Tuesday that he would not let Americans’ frustration with the war deter him from finishing the job in Iraq

5. Maybe To You & Me, No
But, he got where he is by targeting the lowest common denominator. Perhaps we need to start interpreting his statements and declaring what he "really means" so that LCD can start getting a clearer picture of how they've been snookered.

6. When I see quotes, I expect the words inside them
to be what the person said. Interpreting is great,
misquoting not so great. Call me old-fashioned, Professor.

9. Point taken
I should not have used the " ". It would have made it more clear that it was a paraphrase.

Sorry for the confusion. I was trying to as bu$h would put it lower the expectations.

30. liberal N proud... You explained yourself under the title...
It's funny though, when I first read the title, "I will not let the people who I represent stop me from waging war", all I thought was, WHY on Earth would Halliburton, the Carlyle Group and so-on stop him from waging war? They're making out like bandits! :hi:

17. EXACTLY
and, he doesn't even represent that 36%.

Most of them are stupid enough to believe he gives a fuck, but he doesn't.

He only really represents about 1% of the population, if that.

15. You know ...
He's the President. His job is to serve the will of the people. HE is employed to US. There can be no questioning that.

If I had a responsibility in my job and flat-out told my boss that I wasn't gonna do it? Yeah, I'd be fired.

19. But the doofus already said he ISN'T going to finish the job in Iraq.
I don't have the exact quotation handy, but he made it clear that it would be the job of whoever was in the Oval Office in 2009 to finish the war.

He doesn't want to end this war because he loves the idea of being a war putzident. He really really loves it. He thinks that's how history is going to record him. What a fool.
