What part of "No He Didn't" does the media not understand?!?
As pointed out by Media Matters:

KYRA PHILLIPS: A hot debate leads to burnout in the blogosphere. The Washington Post turned off the reader comment feature on Post.blog after it was flooded by what the Post describes as "personal attacks," "profanity," and "hate speech." Post.blog is a site dedicated to sharing news by and about the newspaper. What set off readers was a Sunday column by Post ombudsman Deborah Howell, who wrote that corrupt former lobbyist Jack Abramoff gave money to Democrats as well as Republicans. Well that's true, though most of the money went to Republicans. Cutting off the blog triggered a ton of email to the editors.

Argh!! After all that, they STILL don't know why readers were upset?!? :banghead:

1. Money from the tribes to Dems decreased when Abramoff enters the
picture - and increases for the GOP.

Is the media trying to convey the "they all did it" picture being sold by the GOP - or is the media just stupid - and not evil?

I'll have to think about that.

2. The RNC creates "common knowledge" by lying early and often
They "get out in front" of things like this, stating something false as fact, and the media just buys it. It's then really difficult to change the story to the truth.

Stupid or evil -- I'm not sure either. Some of both, probably.

7. You're right about the tactics ... and (1) the media are lazy
Edited on Sat Jan-21-06 12:08 PM by Angry Girl
So if you hand them articles already written, they'll use those instead, which is another reason why incidences of plagiarism have risen so drastically. That's why you can get just about anything printed in a newspaper under the guise of a press release.

(2) They are stupid (and lazy). Look at the mediocrity coming out of the journalism schools today. Investigative reporting? They don't know how to SPELL it, let alone define it. Besides, nobody reads anymore today. TV news reporters? You might as well hire poodles. Poof up their hair, slap on the pancake, stick them in designer suits and make them read sound bytes in a studio.

(3) They are evil (and stupid and lazy). The stupid and lazy are easily swayed by the quick buck, so they're really easy sellouts, very cheap to buy, particularly in bulk, because they feel secure if "everyone else is doing it." They don't see the consequences down the line, because they are too shortsighted (being stupid and all). They're also easy to con and brainwash -- since they shun the hard, lonely work of individual thought -- so they are easily converted to evil, becoming greedy, uncaring, and destructive.

Yeah, like the GOP! Exactly!

5. I saw that and I couldn't believe it!
Between Phillips' "report" and Blitzer's frustrated attempt to get Dean to agree to the lie, I am absolutely sure that they are being directed by higher ups to push this fairy tale. What the * is going on here? Usually the press at least tries to appear unbiased but on this issue they are incredibly brazen about pushing the Republican talking point.
