HOTTEST NEW ENTRY!

#1)   WILL KIMBROUGH "Less Polite"

Album: Americanitis
Last Month: New Entry Weeks On Chart: 3

I'm trying to be less polite/
I'm fed up with the Christian wrong/
Let the people marry/
Tell me why are you so worried/
Let me sing it too you in this song

I'm trying to be less polite/
I'm gonna tell you what I've seen/
Worthless information is a corporate creation/
Yeah, they're trying to kill democracy

"I want to be mysterious and coy like Bob Dylan when he had the cool high hair and the Tom Petty outfit, around 1965-1966. When he refused to answer any questions straight. But my Mama and Daddy raised a nice southern boy who says yes ma’am and yes sir and can smile and nod his way through most situations. Then came the 2004 election." - Will Kimbrough

"Republicans who listen to 'Americanitis' may tap their country club golf shoes a while before they realize they're not in on the joke here but the punch line." - Tony Peyser's Blue State Jukebox Review

Cunts are still running the world
http://www.merseyremakes.co.uk/gibber/index.php?tag=music

"Former Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker has released his first solo track on the internet. "Running The World" can now be heard on Cocker's MySpace page. The song was written a year ago on the night of the Live 8 concert. 'It's in no way critical of Geldof and co. but I remember thinking at the time: 'Where does engaging with these politicians/businessmen really get you?' — (12 months on & the cunts still haven't paid up as far as I can make out) — maybe the problem is something more… fundamental,' Cocker writes on his MySpace page. 'Anyway, what do I know? I'm just a pampered rock star — but at least I think it's good to discuss this stuff. Don't you?' " - chartattack.com

Last Month: New Entry Weeks On Chart: 3

I can't take their pressure/
No one cares if you live or die/

They want me gone
http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/Thom-Yorke-lyrics/83533352F19B7378482571A800116406

On the explicitly political end is "Harrowdown Hill," anchored by a snapping bass riff and percussive accents that skitter and slide back and forth between the left and right channels. Yorke defeatedly states, "You will be dispensed with when you become inconvenient," and asks "Did I fall or was I pushed?" referring to Dr. David Kelly, a whistle-blowing U.N. weapons inspector whose death — which took place following a sequence of events that led to a testimonial before a parliamentary committee — was ruled a suicide. -- Andy Kellman, allmusic.com

#17)   JAHLE  "Lullaby"

ALBUM: The Rough Trade Guide To The Music Of Iran
Last Month: New Entry Weeks On Chart: 4

"The sexy dance track "Afsoongar" - taken from Arian Band's top-selling Iranian CD - may strike some as surprising. But demonized foreign cultures rarely sound like you expect them to. If the pop songs on this illuminating survey are mainly for curiosity seekers, the Persian folk and classical music is mostly mesmerizing. A reminder of the human beauty drowned out by sword rattling." - Will Hermes, Entertainment Weekly

"It's virtually impossible to consider the state of contemporary Iranian music without taking into account the country's contentious political relationship with the rest of the world. As compiler Simon Broughton acknowledges at the outset of his liner notes, the images of Iran received on the outside, particularly in the West, tend to give an impression that this complex country is populated entirely by religious zealots who would suppress any creative expression. Compounding that false notion is that not much indigenous Iranian music has been allowed to escape, to be heard and appreciated in the West. Not surprisingly though, Iran, both in its cosmopolitan city of Tehran and throughout the rest of the country, hosts a diverse range of traditional and modern artists, as well as many who fuse the two into a new whole." - Jeff Tamarkin

"Merrill Beth Nisker, better known as Peaches, remains fascinating, despite a catalog weighted with great album titles rather than great albums. While her great record, Teaches Of Peaches, introduced an oversexed, foul-mouthed caricature, her follow-ups favor metasexual jokiness over aggressive id relief: she tells interviewers she has hermaphrodite envy, not penis envy." -- Jessica Suarez, rhino.com

Thanks for that. I used to like dancing to the Squirel Nut Zippers track about 6 years ago. :)

Great selection you've come up with there.

3. I didn't see Dear Mr President by Pink on the list
its a different song than the other group, they are just named the same.

Dear Mr. President
Come take a walk with me
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly

What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep
What do you feel when you look in the mirror
Are you proud

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why

Dear Mr. President
Were you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
How can you say
No child is left behind
We're not dumb and we're not blind
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell

the rest..

4. Orleans
http://music.barnesandnoble.com/search/product.asp?z=y&WRK=11037654

Yes, Dancin' in the Moonlight Orleans. There's a great pro-choice, anti-"family values" hypocrisy song on here called Get a Life. They used to let you listen to the whole track on their website.

Hey, big brother
Why don't you get a life?
(leave mine alone)

Names Randall and Phyllis specifically

Part of the proceeds goes to help Katrina victims. Overall, the album has some great things and some not-so-great. Even on this great song, the brass sounds as if they're off in another part of the auditorium.

7. Orleans did "Still The One."
King Harvest did "Dancing In The Moonlight!" (I think Smashing Pumpkins did a remake.)

Thanks for the suggestion. It's great and I did not know about it.

12. Thanks
Ooops. I'm not really up on my pop music. I figured since they featured it so heavily on that CD, they'd done it. They sure sounded like the original. The addition of the steel drums is nice.

11. Excellent!
I would like to recommend "Deeds of a Few" by Donna the Buffalo.

From the CD "Life's a Ride"

Deeds of a Few
-Jeb Puryear

Bright eyes, square shoulders
Uniforms of powder blue

All the children made to suffer
For the deeds of a few

It's an exciting day
Out on the sidewalk
Running, kicking cans
Found a piece of chalk
Heard the air sirens
Running legs stuck
In bad dream glue

All the children made to suffer
For the deeds of a few

Masters of war are reconvening
Greasy chins dropping up and down
Weaving justification
For murder on the ground

It's an exciting day
Out on the sidewalk
Running, kicking cans
Found a piece of chalk
Heard the air sirens
Running legs trapped
In bad dream glue

All the children made to suffer
For the deeds of a few

Bright eyes, square shoulders
Uniforms of powder blue

Join all the children made to suffer
For the deeds of a few

Edited on Wed Aug-30-06 07:51 PM by Maestro
:)

The whole album is anti-*, anti-neocon! The song, Lies, Lies, Lies sticks out to me.

And the mighty Slayer have a great Anti * song out from their new album Christ Illusion. It's called Consfearcy
I need to redefine
All the things I hate today
Politics that fail
From a president derailed
I hate the shit economy
It might as well be sodomy
I know that in the end
I'm expected to pretend

But I can't relate
to your verbal idiocy...

Switching gears and music genre, there is I'm with Stupid from Pet Shop Boys.

Great list though. Keep it up!

19. Two song lists I've compiled
Edited on Wed Aug-30-06 11:01 PM by BlueMark
Outstanding collection of songs Hissyspit, I'll be spending a lot of time listening.

I've put together two song lists organized as CD mixes over at BlueHorde.

Music for the Horde
an eclectic mix of songs, mostly on the easier listening side of the spectrum.

A bad ass collection of Country songs with Conscience.

22. FABULOUS! Can we PLEASE get going now on a NATIONAL CRISIS??!

can we get either PUBLIC ENEMY or someone else--> who is a FRIEND OF PUBLIC ENEMY

to RE-CUT the *wonderful* revolutionary sound of "9-1-1 is a JOKE" to incorporate SOME AMOUNT OF THE TRUTH MOVEMENT....

maybe something like --->

9-11 is a HOAX in my town....

i'm sure that others more rhythmic than I can piece together tha english, but....I would think that some kind of reprise from the CLASSIC PUBLIC ENEMY CATALOG would be most important at this time.

thank you all & god bless america.

25. John Prine was in North Charleston
about a year ago on the first stop of the "Fair and Square" tour. He said he had retired "Flag Decal" back in the mid 70's, but, given the existing situation, he had to bring it back. That song got the biggest ovation of the night. I'm proud to say that I was one of the screamers in the audience!
