7. Hmm...have you heard of any DLC/GOPer who opposed the Iraq war? The Death |
|
penalty, maybe?
I haven't. Well, Lincoln Chafee opposed the war, but that's about it.

2. How about social justice? |
|
Helping the poor, that sort of thing. Why are there several options on this poll that reflect the values of Republicans, but only a few that would reflect those of Democrats?

"consistent" my butt. Forced pregnancy is hazardous to women's lives and health. Any candidate who cared so passionately about condemned prisoners and those against whom we slaughter in war, but so little for the women of this country would never have my vote.
Where's the selection for the candidate who cares about all people?

4. Sustainability, sustainability, sustainability. |
|
And broadly defined, that means population control, energy use, media literacy, spiritual development, pacifism....
All dependent upon LEADERSHIP.

I don't know about spiritual development, but the rest are certainly dead on. Education is needed.

6. The freedom in life to choose what drugs you want to take |
|
That would be liberty, then, 'the issue', i feel strongly about.
But this like another poster said, is a social justice issue, one where the drugs war is a regressive war against the poor where police/prison laws are enforced in a state stripped of privacy. .. or privacy if you're poor certainly.
So, then i guess the fundamental issue, is true liberty to not be a slave, to make your own choices and not be sent to war to die for a dear leader no matter WHO elected the fool. Yes, i guess you could call it freedom, and then i'm simply a person who wants real freedom, and clearly i'm in the tiny minority by the behaviour of the nutjobs on this planet.

8. I support life-affirming choices. |

I oppose abortion in general but absolutely support each individual person's inalienable right to make that choice for themselves. I totally oppose capital punishment as nothing more than "cold-blooded homicide" (in our name - by proxy!) but acknowledge that killing in self-defense can be unavoidable (and "wrong") - but also believe the use of deadly force where not necessary should be prosecuted and subject to proportional penalties. Likewise, I believe all war is avoidable if the underlying issues are addressed by peaceful means (which is the purported belief of all nations who signed the UN Charter) and also support the rights of conscientious objectors to refuse to carry arms - and serve as medics. I do NOT, however, support the notion that citizens of a nation should be able to exempt themselves from national service - either by buying such an exemption (directly or indirectly) or establishing an entitlement to such an exemption. I firmly believe that EVERYONE should be required to perform national service, equitably and personally. Every citizen - male, female, gay, straight, and at almost all levels of "ability."

I do believe in self defense of person, but I think all deployments of troops at the COMMAND of some Ruler of a Nation-State are evil whatever the noble cause...

11. uh.... None of the Above? |
|
What I care about most is sustainability:
Ecological sustainability: Mending climate damage so far as we possibly can, and transforming our technologies to minimize future damage to climate, soil, water, and air.
Economic sustainability: Transforming our economy to moderate the inequities and broaden the base of distribution of economic benefits, and repairing and improving our infrastructure to support future growth.
Geopolitical sustainability: Eliminating our dependency on finite resources controlled by destabilizing global neighbors who threaten our (and the world's) security.
Social sustainability: Making it easier for everyone to participate fully in the political, social, and economic life of the nation through social infrastructure and restoration of robust democracy.
The rest of that stuff is way down on the list compared to those. Why would anyone here think otherwise?

12. you're mixing issues together that don't match |

capital punishment doesn't = war doesn't = abortion doesn't = medically assisted suicide for the terminally ill. so there can can be no consistent viewpoint.
