Mike Malloy

Well this is indeed very shitty. I haven't had time to listen to AAR in nearly a month, but when I did I do recall Mike being the boldest and hardest hitting and easily one of my favorites (Sam Seder was my fav)

This is truly shitty though, Mike said alot of things on his show that none of us wanted to hear - because most of it was seeped with a kind of truth that none of us wanted to believe but yet knew we were just fooling ourselves if we didn't acknowledge what a scary place our nation has become due to religious bigotry, fear mongoring, corporate takeover, and persecution on those who didn't follow the right wings view of christian fascism.

Apparently it was too scary for the producers of AAR. I recall Mike saying on the air that the producers had chided him once or twice for the things he said but all in all they were good to him and let him be pretty free on the air-not anymore I guess.

Despite that I may not have agreed with everything Mike said concerning Democratic candidates like John Kerry or Jack Murtha I still believe more soul speaking individuals like him are needed to be voices for the rest of us who have none in a nation spiraling towards fascism more and more everyday as the thought police gear up to bring down anybody who doesn't fall into line.

Henceforth I will no longer listen to Air America even though the personalities I used to look forward to listening to are still on the air, but to me it is unacceptable what they have done to Mike for merely saying what was always on the minds of anybody who has been paying attention to what has been going on in this country for the last 10 years. Although I am a Gen Xer at the age of 24, I am not blind to what the real story behind the decision to remove Mike from the air and anybody else who has been paying attention knows the scary truth as well.

PS

GO FUCK YOURSELF AAR.

Edited on Wed Aug-30-06 01:50 PM by kstewart33
let's wait for more information. The turnover in radio is sky high. We don't know why he was fired. Often it's because of contract negotiations.

How have his ratings been? If they're down, retaining him becomes a business decision, like it or not. Radio networks first and foremost have to make money.

32. what, I can't have an opinion? Did you get a rush calling me ignorant?
how very special of you Vash the Stampede. Thank you for that.

Here we are, months from one of the most important midterm elections in our party's history and they pull our best radio weapon. Meanwhile Rush just putters along, dope addict, liar. hatemonger . . . unbelievable. I'll be interested to see who they put in his place. As a business, this is a stupid move, the ratings will drop. As for the concept of AAR, a Democratic lever for effecting change, this is a huge step backwards. AAR was conceived as more than just a business. If they continue to make bonehead decisions like this one they won't be able to maintain, even as a money-grubbing air-hole.

35. You call that an "opinion"?
So, in your oh so fleshed out and well spoken "opinion", Mike Malloy can do, say, and demand absolutely anything and AAR has no right to fire him?

Furthermore, the only standard for integrity that one should follow is the same one that Rush Limbaugh follows? And I'm supposed to respect you for that?

I don't get a rush out of calling anyone ignorant. I'd much rather you just not be ignorant in the first place. You tarnish all of our names.

Edited on Wed Aug-30-06 01:56 PM by noahmijo
Something tells me he's charging a little more than a guy who was pulling $80k a year and living in Georgia.

(Mike once announced on the air that that was his approx salary while arguing with a repuke about tax cuts)

Plus you can't tell me Jerry had more listeners than Malloy even if he is on a day slot.

I can't give up AAR. This sucks and I think they'll regret it, but I still want them to be successful.

quantity and quality of the ad revenue generated by each of them.

I have a feeling Jerry! Jerry! Jerry! brings home more bacon. And has more listeners. Just a feeling, no fact to back it up. I know that info is available somewhere, any radio ratings experts out there???

Jerry is not a bad guy don't get me wrong, but the fact is he is not original or special and that's something he seriously lacks for AAR and why I was never a fan of his show on AAR.

I mean you got Franken with his funny bits, Randi with her impeccable research, Sam and Janeane brought us Gen Xers out with their down to earth reach and Sam with his fire and intelligence won me over. Then of course Mike with his balls out truth telling ability that no doubt caused fear into those who were waiting any minute for Bush to send his FCC gangsters over to shut them all down.

Jerry just sounds to me like any New Yorker I've known who is pissed at the bush admin and is ranting about it over drinks and that's it.

That was the AAR I used to know. I don't even recognize it anymore personally.

8. I've Just Got To Stop checking In Here!
Every time I do I see something even more distressing! How many of you really think it's even possible to take back the House or Senate!

We are getting very little help from ANYONE. Especially not our supposed leaders!!

I'm seriously thinking that I don't even WANT to vote anymore. We are getting screwed so badly and I've busted my butt working for the Democrats for so many years. I'm almost speechless. Democrats don't seem to have a real UNITY anymore, and I think the "big tent" analogy doesn't apply anymore.

You either have money, or you don't! For those of us who don't, then Fugedaboudit! I have to go do something else for a while!

With the exception of Jeff Latas whom I came to admire and respect due to his willingness to speak the truth and not wimp out in the face of the Arizona right wing machine.

Other than that if the Democrats ever want me to work for them again they're gonna have to pay me cause this boy doesn't work for free anymore for their machine that only gives time for those who can afford $5,000 a plate dinners.

I bow before your superiority. Does it really come naturally to me? What did I say about jews before I posted? How much do I get paid? What do I drive? What's my favorite food? How much sex do I get in a week? Am I circumcised? You seem to know all about me. What's it like to walk on water?

That wasn't a disclaimer, it was a prediction, and your fake hypersensitive reaction proved me right. Try some more. I'm not turning to straw just yet.

The entire reason I got into listening to AAR was because of Malloy . This was the sole reason I got XM radio . How this world works is just plain sick . He was the ONLY host on AAR that brought you right into reality , No one can ever replace him or Kathy . So there is no reason to have XM anylonger or bother listenint to AAR . His was the show i waited for when I was home and he made my day seem at least bearable .
I know why but it seems to me that the other hosts should not do any shows today just to revolt , I know this is not going to ever happen . i feel sick , truely sick hearing about this .

No wonder the GOP wins. They support their media outlets no matter what they think! We need AAR more than any individual voice.I am sorry about Malloy but we still must maitain a media presence. And BTW, AAR is just a device to preach to the choir. It is to convice others to come over to our viewpoint. That is what most AAR hosts try to do, including Randi, and that is NOT what Malloy did.It is my suspician that is something to do with his being cancelled.JMHO.
