If you're pissed about Malloy... let's get him a new home... on XM
Edited on Wed Aug-30-06 02:40 PM by Rosco T.
Drop O&A a note - Highvoltage@xmradio.com and tell'em you want Malloy on as a late night, no holds barred, UNCENSORED Political talk host on their channel "202 - High Voltage". Right now they only have 8 hr/s day of original programming and the rest repeats, but O&A HAVE THE CONTROL OF THE CHANNEL AND IT'S PROGRAMMING.

Can you imagine Malloy UNCENSORED and UNLEASHED???

1. As soon as he says the word
Hopefully after he figures out what he wants to do and where he'd like to do it his audience can all send some love and email to the prospective employer(s). Man, I'm just bummed..I actually looked forward to him every day to give me some hope. Randi also, but when Mike's on fire, he is the best.

3. The WORD has been said... look at his site...

"There will be no Mike Malloy program today - or any day - on Air America Radio
as we have been terminated.

We are as shocked as you are. We are told its a financial decision."

6. contact XM *and* Sirius
to tell them that a seriously amazing talent is up for grabs. That way, Mike can negotiate a good deal.

10. Okay, I will agree with that... Mike needs a paycheck...
And that's more important than radio affiliation. Go Mike, go! (I just hope it's to SIRIUS... :) )

9. Think Howard Stern could hire him for his channel?
I mean, Malloy is much better than Crazy Cabbie and the weird UFO guy.

11. problem is, Malloy would get a bigger audienance that Howard...

16. Sure about that?
In all reality, I think Howard Stern is a lot more popular than Mike Malloy out in the rest of the world.

19. actually, the Howard 'pump' for Sirius is over.. subs had gone flat and ..
.. last report I saw was the churn was up on Sirius... lotta people seem to think that Howard list his 'edge' when he didn't have to reign himself in...

I suppose the same could happen with Mike.. if he were uncensored, he might get boring...

21. I tuned in Howard last week
I was kind of curious and decided to download a BitTorrent of his show (Shhhhh...).

From what I heard, he had an adjustment period where he had problems reigning in his show, but from what I heard last week, he's better than he's been in years. Sounded more enthusiastic and less like he was just trying to get through his shift. Definitely sounded like he had a giant weight lifted off his shoulders.

I think that the whole "Hot Talk" shock-jock genre started to die when he went to satellite. His replacements have had a hard time replicating his success (including O&A). And rival syndicated morning shows, like Mancow and Bob and Tom have been losing affiliates that desired to go back to a local approach.

I think the problem lies in that there's only so much one can do to shock someone, then what happens? Good thing that I always thought one of Stern's strengths was as an interviewer.

4. Certainly an intriguing idea. Would his AAR contract forbid him from
working on the same airwaves though? I don't know how those things work.

7. Different channel... I don't see how it could...
if he's not working for AAR he can work for anyone else I would think..

unless he decides to hold them to the two-year contract, then he could get paid and run a streaming show off their nickle.

13. Yeah not sure, but I'd think, at least I would, there'd be a clause in
there somewhere. You wouldn't want a disgruntled voice on the same airwaves dissing AAR, if I was AAR that is I'd have thought of something like that. Potentially, you could have Malloy commercials being run on AAR in your given scenario.

Anyways, it's really up to Mike, I'm sure he's going to pop up somewhere. I'd LOVE to have him back on the Chicago airwaves, but I know that ain't going to happen anytime soon. I'll just wait to see what him and Kathy say about it. It's too early to jump to any conclusions.

14. I agree. I already record him on XM each night.
And listen to him on the subway to work the next morning.

Thanks for suggesting a proactive way of solving our anger.

It's ridiculous that people are calling for a boycott of AAR. One person let go, so let's cheer for a destruction of a progressive radio network? Doesn't make sense to me.

15. No. I can't podcast him if he's on Pay Radio
...without an extra fee. I already pay AAR $60 a year for premium. I can't stand the Ovaltine commercials!

18. Mike on XM That's a great idea.
And let's hope it happens, because I got my XM subscription primarily for AAR, and that primarily because of Mike Malloy. Which means I'll probably cancel XM really soon unless they give me a reason to stick around.

Get him a slot on Sirius. It will be more significant and perpetuous.
