Hey EU - Dems here. We've had it and we'd like to leave
and take all our money with us. Half the tax base - gone. Half the consumers dollars - buh bye. Our gift to you EU, for taking us in. At last count we made up more than half of the country so that's a huge chunk of change.

As you are well aware, our country has been taken over by right wing fascists and their ignorant minions so by god they should reep what they sow. If they want a place where everybody locksteps to the commander in chief, then they got it. Let the eagle soar.

No more fighting for the environment - let them choke on the sludge.
No more fighting for workers rights - let the minions shit on themselves as they get screwed by their corporate bosses over and over.
No more fighting for reproductive rights - let them take all them babies to church, all gagillion of them, and let them clean up the mess left behind from back alley abortions.
No more fighting for civil rights and personal freedoms - they seem to be fine with domestic spying, etc...and let them prove their theory that gays are not born gay when we take our "homosexual agenda" with us. Good luck with that.

So EU - waddya say? We're bright, we're fabulous, we're smart and we like the way you do things.

I hear the south of france is delightful...

1. I just watched "Under the Tuscan Sun"...
...and Italy sounds pretty charming and peaceful, right about now.

I love America. However, this is Bush's America.

There's nothing wrong with feeling like you don't want to be here.

The well is poisoned right now.

5. I read an Abramoff quote yesterday re permanant rightie majority.
That's what they want, they've been working on it for over 20 years...chipping away at our base. With Alito they will turn the courts the way they want and it snowballs from there. More Executive Powers - Done. More power and welath to corporate stake holders - done. I'm sick of it and I'm scared for my country.

12. I'm scared too...
...and that's why I support anyone who feels like taking off.

Many may say that leaving America is wrong--that you're allowing them to win.

That may be right.

However, there's nothing wrong with feeling as if you might have to leave, someday--
because things are getting so unsafe, unAmerican and sickening.

and I can't think of any other way
to make the Freeps go apeshit.

Personally, I prefer to stay here. This is my country too
and If the freeps don't like our Constitution or way of life
then they should get the hell out. There aren't too many
places on Earth that would welcome their kind.

The south coast of Spain used to be much less expensive! But I am easy. I have seriously considered South America, but I would go anywhere, especially in a mass migration.

29. but don't you see...a mass exodus will rip the covers off them
for all to see. Exposed. Vulnerable. Nekkid. Needy.

It's PART of the strategy...different than giving in.

In the meantime we can hang out with cool people who "get it", drink some good wine, and watch the implode on the tele.

30. It won't be a mass exodus
You overstate the reach of DU, and vastly overstate the number of people willing to quit and split.

90% of the country are not activists. Maybe half of the leftover 10% - the left half - would leave under your plan. Exposed? Nekkid? Nah. Safer. More secure. They're praying people listen to you.

My cheeky plea was to all the dems in the country, not just the DU and it was a tongue in cheek rant. An "Imagine if you will" scenario. Just day dreaming out loud.

Thanks for waking me up I guess...

38. It's pretty damn scary
My S/O and I decided to stay for a few more years despite the fact that I can't really afford the medical insurance costs out of pocket, and pretty much have decided that if I have another stroke or heart attack, I will stay home and die.

I have only one life to give for my country, and my country seems quite happy to take it.

I'm fighting these asshats to my last breath. This is my country (I even have a touch of native blood) and if it's going to slide into a dictatorship, I'm going to make sure it costs them dearly to do so by resisting every step of the way. To do less would dishonor those that have come before me.

Sometimes you don't get dealt a good hand folks, but you have to play it anyway. We got dealt a hand full of cronies and fascists. We have to do with it what we can.

37. I like threads like this.
Gives me a few moments to dream about getting the hell out of dodge. I've been thinking about it for a couple of years now, but can't quite swing it financially not to mention that dh has 7 more years to go to get a 20 year retirement. BUT-it's on the back burner for sure.

Because yeah, while it's more patriotic to stay and fight the god damn ugly evil reich wing bastards, the thought of how bad it can get in this country when they implement more of their nefarious plans, such as interment camps for dissenters...

....sends shivers down my back.... :scared:
