This is why I believe Mike Malloy matters
Edited on Wed Aug-30-06 08:47 PM by DancingBear
“He puts one of yours in the hospital, you put one of his in the morgue."

We're a crippled bunch, kids, because for far too long the bully has had his way. Our other cheek is cut and bruised, and every time we walk away they yell "coward" and "traitor" as they point their fingers at the cause of all their trouble. They ask us to work together, and while we foolishly comply they stick another shiv in the weary body and tell us we just don’t try hard enough.

Then, they get behind their bought and paid for microphones and for hours on end tell us we’re shit. Day after day, night after night, lie after filthy lie, the garbage that spews forth unchecked from their mouths would put a Democrat on trial and a black man in jail, but they keep it up. Hypocrisy rules the roost, but not a peep from the puppet masters about it, for the fault lies not within themselves, but in those who foolishly believe the other side.

So one day this guy comes on the radio, he shines a light on the vermin, and he starts to talk. And he doesn’t stop until he throws every last bit of garbage right back at them, and when they’re covered in pig shit and reeking like the city dump he pushes them out on center stage and says “America, THIS is what they truly are.” He is, of course, entirely correct.

He does this without fail, night after night, because someone has to. While the Casper Milquetoasts parade their Republican friends across the radio dial in some bizarre Rodney King fantasy the other side continues to shoot real bullets, and Mike Malloy continues to shoot back. These bastards are killers, true bon-a-fide psychotic bastards, and finally someone has the balls to sit next to a radio mike and tell everyone the truth. They are slime, pure unadulterated filth, and for the first time in a very long time someone is pretending it is America again and is telling the truth. With anger, with tears, with bombast, and with contempt, somebody is making me sit at home on a Tuesday evening and say “thank you.”

Sadly, the truth hit too close to home, and somebody somewhere decided that TruthLite is the way to go, lest we offend a soccer mom/dad somewhere who might be put off hearing that Bush ignored 9/11. No, it’s best that we put someone on who won’t cross that line, but who will say with a quivering voice “Mr. Bush, you were very bad today” as the bullets fly. The other side, you see, doesn’t care how you say it - it’s the fact that you merely say it at all that causes the fight. So we tell the mother of all street fighters to go home, and as we call in the brand new MakeNice players we ask them to please tell everyone about the bullies, but be sure and play nice even if they steal your lunch money, or if they steal your job, or if they steal your life.

Fuck nice - why not send the bastards to the morgue?

3. And You Know What Absolutely Blows Me Away
are those who have the audacity to call him and his listeners extreme. Extremely telling as to how apathetic people have allowed themselves to become.

Fuck nice is correct.

4. I just found him recently, and he was the only AAR host talking without
a filter. Just told it like it was.

Yesterday, he had Greg Palast on, and Palast pointed out that according to a hurricane expert, the White House KNEW that the levies had broken Monday night. Broken levies made NOLA a FEDERAL problem and a FEDERAL disaster.

I wonder if this isn't why Malloy was let go.

8. They had Greg Palast on LinkTV last night with the whole
half hour documentary he filmed in NO last night and he not only said the same thing but interviewed the people who found out first that Bush knew before they did, not to mention a weather expert who has been threatened for speaking up. Maybe it's the reason, but it's too bad if AAR folded on that.

15. I posted when it was happening but haven't been able to
find it on either Democracy Now or the LinkTV websites. It was different from Spike Lee's documentary because it named names and placed blames.

17. I'm sure Link will run it again. Maybe we can find a link to a
download or a cd order soon. I've watched it twice. Greg is devastating without being in the least melodramatic.

6. The center is so smudged
I can't tell where Republicans start and Democrats end.
Now AAR is purging the left.
We should have expected it this close to election.
However...when voices like Malloy stand up and speak truth to power, and then Corporatcrats like Lieberman start losing elections, the people in power stand up and take notice.
Do you find it a little frightening that yesterday a poll was released that said over 50% of Americans thought Bush had something to do with 911?
And today, one of the loudest voices on this subject was muted.
There are no accidents. There are no coincidences.
We are in a fight for our country. Mike Malloy was a casualty of this war.

9. Just yesterday I was wishing they'd put Malloy in Franken's time slot
permanently. I usually don't listen to much radio in the evening, but I stream all day at work. Malloy was incredible yesterday. I honestly wonder how much Franken had to do with this, Malloy wasn't afraid to take up the topics Al avoids like the plague and no doubt Franken didn't approve.

I haven't been that thrilled with the idea of Franken running for the Senate in Minnesota in 2008 and the more I listen to his show, the less thrilled I get.

12. That's the choice time slot...Malloy too would of been #1 in that prime
Edited on Wed Aug-30-06 09:19 PM by LaPera
time slot for AAR---12 to 3 Eastern...It sure isn't Franken...Randi, Hartmann, Malloy, anyone, Peter B Collins would do better than boring & dry Franken, who is not as liberal as the others mentioned, not as good an interviewer, not as informed as say Hartmann or Collins...and no where near as funny as Franken sincerely thinks he is...

The time slot is prime time for radio...Others could do a much better job if AAR just didn't have their heads up their ass believing Franken is a star because he's in that time slot and Franken thinks of himself as a star---!!!

11. Franken's DLC possee should arrive any second to snark about money
because it's all they understand. Money, or "ratings" (comparing midday to midnight, but who cares).

AAR management are greedy and venal, and that's all there is to it. So there may occasionally be something on AAR worth turning on, but I'm back to local programming, as uneven and frustrating as that experience is, and I'll use my expensive XM outfit for music only.

Bob Dylan still gets some truth into his statements.

I love your eloquence and, of course, agree 100 percent.
